Challenging penalty notice for stopping in a box junction - LBHF
at 21:00 22 Mar 2018

Wondering if any one has any advice?

I have just received a Penalty Charge Notice from HFBC for entering and stopping in a box junction. It was at the junction of Talgarth Road and Butterwick on the way home from Sunderland recently.

There was a huge traffic jam at the time, next to the Broadway shopping centre. I was already on the roundabout and it was one of those situations where traffic was so heavy, if you didn't enter the junction, you would never move due to traffic joining the roundabout ahead of you. The photos on the website show loads of drivers having to do the same thing.

Has anyone had any experience of challenging this type of decision? It seems harsh, due to the volume of traffic at the time.

Thanks for any advice folks can offer!

Interesting that Clive's interview with Ollie is now on the official website, especially with Ollie talking abut individual players!

Credit to Clive and the club I reckon...

How much are we missing Joey Barton?
at 19:12 6 Oct 2014

Given our atrocious start, how much do people feel we have been missing Barton in the last few games? Considering he has been so widely praised for his attitude, presence and team-building qualities last season, would we be bottom if Joey had been available?

On the radio they just said that this was McLaren's last game at Wembley.

Let's hope for more of the same tomorrow!

If you listen carefully, you can hear the commentator mention SWP in the build-up to the goal!

And whatever happened to Scott Carson...?

Charlie's goal - great movement
at 19:29 29 Jan 2014

The "behind the goal" camera shows how, as soon as he laid the ball off, Charlie heads for the far post while everyone else runs towards the near post.

Great movement and lovely to watch a goal scorer who knows what he's doing!

When did the dressing room split actually begin?
at 13:02 1 Jun 2013

Apols if this has been covered in other threads.

Hughes seems to be suggesting that the dressing room split had already happened before he joined the club. Presumably he is basing this on players like Barton and SWP signed at very short notice by Warnock? Seems a bit harsh. With the takeover at that time, Warnock had very little time to strengthen the squad at all, but had to do something.

Another Hughes smokescreen?

How to turn draws into wins?
at 08:21 30 Jan 2013

Great performance and result last night. Cesar MOM, tenacious tackling from Taarabt and a great atmosphere.

So now we've made ourselves hard to beat against the bigger teams but Norwich is an opportunity to go for a win. Last night we only really had Remy and Adel as attacking threats but I'm not sure what we will change to make us more attacking.

Sign a more mobile central defender to free up the midfield?

Sign a quicker centre mid so we can play 442?

Sign quick breaking players like Odemwinge?

Any thoughts?

Our style of play
at 10:50 25 Nov 2012

Our strength seems to be our ability to play a good passing game, rather than lumping the high ball forward, usually too early, which generally concedes possession and then puts us back under pressure. Why don't we take more time just retaining the possession, which we showed we can do even against Man Utd? The obvious benefits being it makes the opposition run around more, plus they can't score when we have the ball. We seem to be in too much of a rush to attack. Can anyone explain?

If it's 'Arry, what will he do to turn things around?
at 21:02 23 Nov 2012

If it's Harry, what do people think he will change when he arrives?

Will he bomb out Taarabt for a second time or see a different player in him now?

Will he play Nelsen who he signed at Spurs? (but didn't play much)

Will 'Arry try and go back for his old players - Defoe, Dawson, etc?

Lots of posters seem to think he will be a good motivator. He'll have to be, to get a response from this squad before the Jan transfer window. I don't know the answers to the above but the anticipation, finally, after a winless season is killing me!!

Spelling players names...
at 15:03 26 Oct 2012

Which players names can't you spell?

I'm not sure how many t's in Hoilettt so I always write "Junior".

I always write Faurlin 'cos otherwise Ale doesn't look right...

Not sure how many l's in Wright-Phillllips so it's always SWP.

I was never sure of Buzacky so would always write "Akos".

The one exception I made was to make a point of learning "Taarabt"!

Any confessions to make?

Faurlin or Diakete defensive midfield...?
at 07:52 26 Oct 2012

Seen this discussed a little in other threads. For me, I prefer Diakete in the defensive midfield role. Faurlin is not the quickest or strongest at breaking up counter-attacks. Personally, I think when the opposition break away and they see Diakete ahead of them it slows down the counter-attack because they are intimidated by his strength and speed.

The only drawback is Diakete learning when to slide in and to make sure he times it right!

This allows Faurlin to do more damage with his intricate passing further upfield...

Any thoughts?

Interesting thread from May. Lots of posters thought we only needed 3 - 4 new players in the summer transfer window. Not sure anyone predicted 12 signings!

I think we actually exceeded most of the predictions on the thread!

Strikers!
at 21:28 25 May 2012

We had 5 strikers in our most recent 25 man squad, all over 30 years old. Would people be disappointed if we didn't sign any replacement strikers this summer?

Cisse (30) - safe
Zamora (31) - safe
Helguson (34) - great (when fit!)
Campbell (30) - potential fitness risk
Bothroyd (30) - doesn't score many....

I'd be happy for Bothroyd to move on, perhaps sign a younger striker, ideally with pace. Any thoughts...?
