If we can get 2 wins and draw another 2 (or 3) then that would be very good. Better to win 3 and lose 2 than win one and draw the rest pointswise.. but there is also something to be said for not losing.
If we are playing well and not turning draws into wins when we are the better team (charlton/Bolton) then that starts becoming an issue, but if we are drawing games when not playing well then that is a positive.. all in all, will depend on a mixture of points on the board and how well we are playing, and also how many injuries we pick up.
I guess over 9 points will be very good work, any less than 6 will be dissapointing. |

Hopefully he see's this and makes the mature decision to go knock on the Gaffer's door, and tell him he is ready to knuckle down and earn his place on the bench, and then the first team. Would be a nice story. |

just recieved the "R's ready for clash at The Hawthorns" email regarding tomorrow's game, and the 3 poster boys are Koki, Lamptey, and JCS... which suggests they are all fit and ready. Could Lamptey be fit to play afterall? |

We have already got more out of Lamptey than Fiorentina managed, and they shelled out 6 million and probably massive wages... that's a positive! |

1. Adamson, I saw him charging forward with the ball a number of times and Vale stood in front of him blocking his way to the touchline.. If Vale takes the full back inside he would either lose him and be free for the pass or allow Adamson to hit the touchline and cross/pull back.. said it a number of times first half.
2. Could we have not tried swapping Vale and Smyth for a period, as playing inverted wingers means they are always cutting in and not getting to the line for cut backs etc.. Lamptey got behind a few times and looked dangerous.. I think playing Burrel we want crosses from the touch and cut backs, not cutting back and crossing from deep, which Charlton dealt with easily against Buzz. |

Any win would have taken us top.. which would have been nice.
I found that frustrating.. when I screamed shoot they didn't and when I screamed pass they shot.. Some nice possession football, which is nice to see, but never really convinced that we had goals in us.
Very few balls in behind for our quick forwards.. widemen not getting to the byline (after Lamptey went off) and crosses from deep were dealt with easily..
Thought Adamson put in a good shift. Fair play to the lad. But Mad Ben did well when he came on, got down the wing and put some crosses in.
Scarlett looks lightweight.. and rushed his chance when put through, crossing before he looked up, had a lot more time than he realized.
Kamara looks so silky, but neither him or Madsen really did much in terms of final balls.
Our best chance came from pressing, and Smyth should have done better, first touch took him wider than needed and tame finish.
All that possession and we created very little.. fingers crossed Jimmy and Tariq are not proper injuries..
Feels like 2 points lost and a chance to improve our dysmal record at the Valley.. which was depressingly empty, |

Adamson keeps charging up the line with the ball, Vale just stands there instead of going infield and taking the full back and Adamson who looks very quick has to stop and go back.. driving me mad,
Smyth has been very quiet.
Kamara is a joy, never thought he would become my new favorite player.. he is so good at losing his man without touching the ball.. makes it look effortless. But would like to see him or Madsen start imposing themselves more on creating chances.. or getting in shooting positions. |

I like him, but always think he lacks pace for a wide man, but if he had scored all his recent chances, then that would have quickly been forgotten.
I wonder if when we (fingers crossed) have a fully fit and firing Tariq Lamptey, who appears to have bags of pace, that they could work togethor really well going forward at least down the right. |

Didn't think Saito was poor last night, thought he looked dangerous, finding good pockets in the middle. Cardiff comms picked him for man of the first half and couldn't stop saying what a great player he was. I thought Vale was the weak link, slow and missed a bag full of presentable chances |

My first full 90 I have watched so far, and I didn't see what all the fuss is about regarding the keeper's distribution.. Was expecting to see prime Pirlo pinging balls around.
Thought we looked decent, and felt we could step it up second half swapping Lloyd out.
The 4 man sub made us much weaker, with the Chair substitute improving us a bit later, assuming those subs were forced/planned in terms of minutes.
Lamptey looks class.. and not like a player who has come back from a bad injury, which seems very exciting.
Vale missed a load of chances to do exactly what Ng did for Cardiff.
Burrel took his goal well. |

First game I have watched this season and some really encouraging stuff.
Lamptey the standout, and Kamara looks really classy. Thought Madsen didn't have his best game.
Missed some decent chances, Vale the main culprit.. would have liked to see Smyth come on and give us some pace down that right flank.. the 4 subs at once nearly blew up in our face, improved a little when Chair came on, but I was getting England v Argentina vibes and thought we might shit the bed.. Will be nice when more players can complete 90 minutes, as I am guessing most of those subs were fitness related and not tactical.
Lloyd is a good runner, but would rather see him come on to close games than start them.
One thing that stood out was the keeper's distribution didn't seem all that today, whereas the previous games everyone has raved about it, seemed average at best. Maybe just a bad day at the office, and to be fair the trend for the game seemed to be misplaced passes.. I lost count.. was like every third pass from both teams was to the other team, at least in the first half |

A half with a whopping number of misplaced passes from both teams,,
Cardiff comms gave Saito man of the half..which is probably fair, was finding space in the middle.
Vale a bit dissapointing so far, and Lloyd looks like the same player.. actually made the chance he had well, but the finish was awful, but lots of games coming, so if we can keep winning and share the minutes, that is a result.
Like the look of Kamara, first time seeing him..classy. |

Great news he's safe.
Watching those goals, i noticed his free kick against Reading (5.50) on the video, he takes with his left foot.. miles out. Did that really happen or is it some inverted video magic.
I always thought I was somewhat 2-footed as could swing the left, but would never take a standing free kick with it from outside the box.. Can't be many players who have scored direct free kicks from that distance with both feet, if any.
Edit.. just found the full Reading game, and seems the camera has been mirrored, it was indeed a right footed free-kick. Mystery solved! |

First football memories are from my dad taking me to Oxford United, even made me a wooden box with a handle so I could see over the wall on the terraces at the old manor. I was of an age (6 or 7ish I guess) when I wasn't overly interested and it seemed like a long time standing up, I remember the people, the smells of burgers, cigarettes, lots of standing, but ended up not really caring about going, so my dad would go with my older brother.. then Oxford got relegated (1988) and my dad didn't fancy watching second division football, and he had a mate who lived close to QPR, so they decided they'd start going to watch QPR, I would have been about 9 at that time, 88/89 season, and it clicked, fell in love with the Hoops..
Took my lad to his first live game last weekend, Palmeiras v Vasco de Gama, which is a bit like taking him to watch Chelsea... as we are Corinthians fans over here, but got handed some free tickets, and wasn't sure if he'd have the patience to sit and watch for 90 mins, but he enjoyed it, so now need to get him to Corinthians, and hopefully to Loftus Road at some point. |

Every time I see Ilias Chair, I can't stop thinking how much lighter he looks, he has always looked so short and chunky, but now seems to appear much lighter. not sure if it is just the new floppier hair cut and highlights.. or the new fitness regime. But after Saturday, it seems to be working. |
