Fair enough, Nixy.
We agree on most things.
On a by-the-by, I overheard a great one on the recent hiking holiday. I was walking behind two women, who I just KNEW were Irish and who were clearly having a healthy - shall we say - debate!
I took out one earphone so I could earwig, and heard the following beautiful exchange.
Woman 1: "We're basically agreeing on everything, just from different angles"
Woman 2: "I disagree about that as well!"
I smiled, they smiled.
Then they kept on disagreeing! |

I absolutely agree that it doesn't apply to all players, Nixy, which is why I said that I thought the defenders might like an honest word with some of the players who were supposed to give them cover. But it's a team game, so I made a comment about the team.
I also think that it's fair to bring up fitness and availability again as possible mitigating factors for some of the players yesterday e.g. in the build-up to the second goal, neither Kamara or Smyth picked themselves up and sprinted back. That's completely out of character for Smyth, and - based on evidence so far - probably for Kamara too.
Which is why I'm not too down about yesterday.
P.S. It was also a Saturday game after a midweek game, and we often lack drive and belief in those as we know. I thought we did again yesterday (couldn't help noticing that our official comms mentioned yet again the dreaded phrase "three-game-week" in its very first sentence, followed quickly by "difficult place to come to" (Brum's home record before yesterday was W1 D4 L0 and our record in our last ten visits is W3 D3 L4). This is a common theme in the club, and while I really rate Stéphan, it will take him a while to change that culture and raise our belief in ourselves as a team and as a club. So, I'm not getting too down about it, or calling for the stocks for anyone.

I thought we lacked the necessary hunger, belief and work-rate today.
Defeat looked likely from very early on, and a few players were extremely lucky not to be subbed for their pathetic efforts at getting back to protect the house.
Not getting down about it or anything, but I would think there'd be harsh words by the defenders aimed at some of those who were supposed to give them cover. |

Maybe the stretcher crew have to be called on by the ref?
If so, from watching the video, they were called on at 81:00 and came on at 81:23. That's a small delay, but only small. |

In all fairness, though, that would have been before Sexton started travelling abroad to watch, in particular, Dutch football.
Venables' three years at Spurs, the house of Bill Nicholson, who is tied in to Ajax through Vic Buckingham, might be far more influential on his thinking than his days at Chelsea. |

It's beautiful. A mate sent it to me and the first time I was listening to it I was off on a hike, and about four minutes in I was hooked and I had one of those moments where you think "I'd love if it now if 'blank' happened" and in this case it was a case of "I'd love if there was a voice added now" and it just happened and it fitted and it was amazing. |
