That's for the manager to work out, not me.

The reality is that with a dominating keeper and a goalscorer, we win that game. Hope the manager sees it that way too in January.

I wonder what plan the board has in mind
at 13:30 8 Mar 2021

I think the club need to be very worried about how many fans will come back next year regardless of which division we are in. I've had 50 years of supporting Rochdale but over the last few years my attendance at games has dwindled. There are a number of reasons for this but priorities can change and especially during the last 12 months peoples habits will have changed too. If you'd have told me 10 years ago that I'd be picking a handful of games to go to over a season, I wouldn't have believed it, but things change in life and I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened too. I wonder what the core fan base of week in, week out supporters will actually be once fans can return. I would imagine it will be significantly lower.

Naive managers get too familiar with players. Let’s face it, McShane, McNulty, McLaughlin and Done shouldn’t be with the club now. This ultimately will be his downfall. The starting point for any decent team is a solid, settled defence. Ours isn’t and never has been under BBM.

Tier 2 / Tier 3
at 10:35 22 Oct 2020

Don't know if I'm being over-cynical here but, doe anyone else think it's too much of a coincidence that a week after London enters Tier 2 restrictions, the chancellor will be announcing an extra package of support for these areas. I assume that this will be backdated to the 31st July for the North West

The other thing we need to remember is that a certain Ian Henderson wasn't exactly prolific when he came to us.

I'm not overly concerned that we won't bring any strikers in, more that we will be playing catch up by the time we do and have given everyone else 5 or 6 games start which we can ill afford to do.

tomorrow can't come quick enough
at 08:19 10 Jun 2020

I, for one, think it's time now to give this a rest.

Bury have effectively gone in their original form and they are left now with a number of good people trying to form a new club to be run in the correct way.

Okay there were a number of Bury fans came on here lording it up when the spending spree started, but the vast majority of Bury fans are just like us and missing a football team to support. Think we can all empathise with that after the last 10 weeks.

With everything that's happened with football in this time, the bickering between chairman, the distinct possibility that other clubs may not survive, teams being relegated on PPG (which we would have been in the last two seasons), maybe its time to retire the thread and move on.

This.

If social distancing is going to apply until a vaccine is found, how can anyone contemplate that contact sports will be allowed to take place.

If you could have signed one player

Jamie Cureton for me although he may well always been out of our price range.

I think the day we signed Andy Flounders though was the one player I always wanted that we actually got.

National League Season Ended...
at 15:00 23 Apr 2020

I think that although most clubs will be openly saying that the best course of action will be to finish the season, the reality will be that it's every man for himself when the actual discussions take place. From our perspective, voiding the season or points per game guarantees the club League 1 football again next year whilst finishing the season does not. Every club will want the best outcome for them and for that reason, I can't see that the season will complete.

No football for the next three weeks?
at 14:11 13 Mar 2020

If the season can't be completed, this has to be the fairest way to do it. 80% of the season is complete so its a fair indication of where teams would finish. Can't see Liverpool, Leeds, West Brom or Coventry accepting that the season should be scrapped. Tables should be based on 80% of what has happened rather than 20% of what might have. Hopefully, though, we'll manage somehow to get the season finished although I'm not sure how this will happen. Can't go past the end of June as players will be out of contract. Interesting times ahead.

I suppose a gentleman's agreement protects all sides.

For example, if it was agreed we would let Luke go if a £1 million bid comes in, we get our million and Luke gets the move.

If £1 million was the buyout clause and someone was going to offer £1.5 million, once they knew £1 million would get him, that's all they would offer.

If £500,000 was the buyout, the club would not be getting enough.

If £2 million was the buyout, it might be too much and Luke might get a move.

I genuinely don't have a clue for Luke what represents a good or bad deal, bearing in mind he only signed his first contract in October.

This.

Even though there may not be release clause, there may have been a gentleman's agreement when the contract was signed. All speculation of course and we'll probably never find out the what, who, how and why.

Could someone just clarify, the ticket office is open until 7.00pm tonight but the club shop (for the coach tickets) is only open until 5.00pm?
