Just got back. I think we were mediocre across the park, but Burnley set up to frustrate and frustrate they did. Starting at the back, Charles was uncharacteristically off target with passes today, though Jimmy and Ronnie were both very solid ahead of them. Adamson and Cirkin both had pretty poor games I thought, with Adamson especially looking suddenly low on confidence which he made worse by giving the ball away too frequently. Moving forward, Varane I thought was tidy in the binman role, but he's a limited player. Good to see him score, though. Kamara to me looked leggy and a half yard behind the play, which was unusual when he normally seems so assured. We could've desperately used Madsen to get the ball moving faster today. Vale was fine but lacks the pace to threaten wingers, and Saito couldn't trap a bag of cement today. Up front Kone had almost no service and thus spent the whole day looking for it (which means he wasn't where he needed to be to score), and Smyth never really got anything over the top that he could get his teeth into. To be honest, it was probably one of Smyth's weaker recent games as he just seemed a bit too slow to ever make a decision. Once the subs came on, I thought Kolli was really poor and seemed confused about what he was supposed to be doing. Smyth got openly frustrated with him at one point, though he improved when Obikwu came on. I thought Obikwu was an improvement as he put himself about well, but he really really needed to hit the target with his chance. Dembelé looked up for it but couldn't seem to get the ball to fall to him, and it was lovely to see Illy back but he definitely isn't match fit yet. His chance on the pull back was golden and should've been buried, and he made a few wayward passes. Overall a pretty middling and leggy performance against one of the worst sides in the division. Burnley were completely bereft of inspiration and only scored from frankly a fairly lucky chance. But they did set up to make themselves hard to beat and they achieved that. We should've been much more creative and much more clinical, but I've also seen Rangers teams CPR themselves to a 2-0 defeat in these circumstances so I guess we can take the point and move on. This does make the Lincoln game a must-win, though, which feels very very dangerous to me. |

I'm mostly alright with it, but a bit nervous about that midfield. Need a big performance from Varane today, which I don't know if he can deliver |

Down for my annual pilgrimage to Loftus Road. Hoping for a 2-1 to us - think we have to win games like this, even with their new manager bounce. |

My brother in law just dropped out of coming for tonight, so I have a free ticket in Ellerslie Road (Block X). If anyone wants it then let me know - I'm not interested in getting money (he's already paid me for it) but I'd appreciate a pint! |

I'll stick my nose into there and the Crown and Sceptre then. I used to go to the football with my dad and he was never a pub bloke, so it'll be my first time really soaking up the atmosphere at a pub pre-game. Looking forward to it! |

Slightly separate from the main thread - who's in town for the game tomorrow? I'm making my annual pilgrimage to LR for the match and wondered if anyone was getting a pint before the game and where they'd be going? I can get the tube into town a bit early. |

Agree with this. I was probably a touch optimistic saying we were the better side, but we were definitely in it in the first half and dominated long stretches. Second half we got overrun in midfield, but still don't feel much shame about this one. The 3rd goal was a gift, though, and I bet Bould is fuming. |

Yeah I hear you, Charles was brilliant. Probably Kone for me though, he's worked very hard and scored a good goal against the run of play |

I don't know, feels harsh. We were the better side for most of the game. Just saw the Alfie injury. How is Stephan supposed to use subs in a situation like this?! For goodness sake, can't have it that the 5th sub just has to be saved in case we get a random injury. Unbelievable. |

Varane and Kamara are getting overrun now. Varane had a very good first half but has come out and faded quicklu |

Have to think Poku and and Vale off. Not giving them pelters but they're not really bringing enough today |

Got away with one there. But we've played really well, this has been a proper battle between really good teams. Gonna be a really tough game. [Post edited 31 Oct 15:49]
