Any other Dale Exiles on this board that will be going to this Saturday's Exiles day at Spotland? I will be travelling up from deepest Essex and hope to meet up with other Exiles on the day. Maybe round off the day with a drink or two at the Cem! |
| Forum Thread | League 1 Average Home Crowd v Points Table at 16:00 30 Dec 2015
Have been working on a league table that takes into account each League 1 clubs' average home attendance v the points gained. I have used the Football Web Pages site for the stats so I hope it is accurate. I took the average home attendance and compared it against the points gained so far computing how many spectators where needed per each point gained. There will be a little variation as some clubs have played fewer/ more games than others. I was genuinely shocked to see Rochdale in second place. A testimony to how well Keith Hill has done with the available resources? The stats below are: League Position, Average Home Attendance Position, Team, Average Home Attendance, Points gained so far, Average Home Attendance v Points gained. This is how the table has worked out: Pos Att Team Av Home Points HvPts 2 22 Burton Albion 3692 48 76.9 13 24 Rochdale 3354 31 108.2 1 14 Walsall 5472 48 114.0 14 21 Scunthorpe United 3724 31 120.1 3 12 Gillingham 6179 47 131.5 12 19 Bury 4353 33 131.9 11 16 Port Vale 4867 33 147.5 21 23 Fleetwood Town 3412 23 148.3 6 13 Peterborough United 5669 37 153.2 7 10 Southend United 6475 37 175.0 15 11 Doncaster Rovers 6275 31 202.4 17 15 Shrewsbury Town 5303 26 204.0 24 20 Colchester United 4101 20 205.1 5 6 Wigan Athletic 8394 40 209.9 22 18 Oldham Athletic 4394 20 219.7 23 17 Crewe Alexandra 4457 20 222.9 16 7 Swindon Town 7578 28 270.6 18 8 Blackpool 6774 25 271.0 9 4 Millwall 9237 34 271.7 20 9 Chesterfield 6594 24 274.8 4 3 Coventry City 12970 44 294.8 19 5 Barnsley 9172 24 382.2 10 2 Bradford City 18011 34 529.7 8 1 Sheffield United 19888 36 552.4 [Post edited 30 Dec 2015 16:22]

After thinking about it for a long time I'm finally coming up for my first visit to Spotland for the Oldham game. I've booked my ticket and got a hotel. Just got a couple of more questions I could do with help on please. When I was at the MIllwall game I got talking to a couple of blokes and they said that there was a particularly good fish & chip shop right near the ground on I believe Wilbutt's Lane? Have I got that right? Secondly, where would be a good place to go for a drink, probably after the match? As I'm driving up Saturday morning not sure I'll have time for a beer pre match but i'll see. Thanks again chaps! |

Looking to come up for a Rochdale home game sometime soon. Was wondering where would be the best part of the ground to buy a ticket for? Despite being a 40 something I do like it when the supporters get going and make a bit of noise. Can you help please? Thanks FatCat |
| Forum Thread | Hotels B&B's in or around Rochdale at 20:22 8 Oct 2015
Hello all, I am tempted to get myself up to Spotland, from deepest Essex, for my first ever home game. I see that there is a link to hotels on this site and have taken a quick look at some. Are there any places, hotels, B&B's, guest houses etc. that you would recommend (or indeed steer clear off) in Rochdale or at a reasonable distance? I'm hoping that a bit of local knowledge would help. Thanks |
| Forum Thread | My First Rochdale Game! at 14:58 14 Dec 2014
The 4-1 win at Colchester was my first ever Rochdale game. I am primarily a West Ham supporter, but, what with the advent of the Premier League I have been priced out of watching the Hammers. My favourite other league team? Rochdale of course. Why is this? Well, back in 1977 I started to support West Ham. As the 1977-78 season finished in relegation for West Ham (an early indication as to what being a Hammers fan meant) I looked at the league tables and saw that Rochdale finished right at the bottom of the pile. Since then I have had a soft spot for The Dale. As a 40 something, on Saturday I finally decided to put one of my bucket list to bed and watch Rochdale play. I only live about 20 miles from Colchester, a mere walk compared to those that travelled from Lancashire on Saturday. I was really glad to see my first Dale goal, let alone a comfortable 4-1 win, and was genuinely rooting for the team. I was also surprised to see the amount of Dale fans at Colchester. I guessed at 200 or so and wasn’t far out. Well done to you all that travelled such a long way. I hope to make the pilgrimage to Spotland one day. Hopefully this season. Maybe I can tempt the missus to a weekend shopping in Manchester while I go and see my first Dale home game. |
