IMPORTANT NOTICE: Christmas pub w*nkers, please think hard
at 11:18 18 Dec 2025

I guess you must have been well drunk when you posted this Nick.
There's enough hatred on this forum without you making it worse.
Every one is entitled to enjoy Xmas not just drunken football fans.
HAPPY XMAS to everyone & NOT just heavy drinkers.
By the way I enjoy a drink all year round & not just at Xmas.

Playing football
at 18:54 16 Dec 2025

I don't want to give away my identity but suffice to say I played at local / County level against Ted MacDougal + Brian O'Neil & Micky Judd.
Played in same side as John Sydenham.
Trained with Big Jake McGrath & Manny Andrewseski.
Unfortunately a serious leg break ended my football career.

I agree Grumps, he's playing 3 ctr backs because none of them are good enough so he's relying on strength in numbers which doesn't work because no-one takes responsibility & they end up getting in each others way resulting in the messy goals conceded.
Get back to playing just 2 ctr backs & conventional full backs as defenders.
It too much to expect wing backs to do the job of full back & winger, they continually get caught out of position.
And what's all this nonsense of "inverted full backs" & " false nines" its just tactical rubbish.
It's a simple game so keep it simple.

They trust him with the ball at his feet, but he's just not commanding enough in his area.
He's one of those keepers that makes relatively simple saves look spectacular but doesn't deal with the difficult stuff.
It's just my opinion, I have never rated Baz.

We didn't deserve anything from todays game & we were very lucky to beat West Brom midweek.
What's worrying is that neither WBA or Norwich are very good, both are very average & we struggled against both of them.
Slack Jack was as bad as ever, Ryan Fraser is well past it.
We missed Tom Fellows big time.
And I still don't think Baz is strong enough or commanding enough, our defenders don't trust him that why they keep dropping deeper & virtually defending on our goal line.

It's like watching walking Walking Football when Slack Jack play at the back.
He slows the game down to his walking pace & watch after he's played the ball he just plays statues, has he ever broken sweat in a game.
I can't understand or believe that so many of our Managers have trusted in him,
I'm convinced that he helps pick the team there's no other reason that he'd get a game.
If Tonda doesn't sort that defence out then we'll continue to leak goals & the rest of the side will lose heart.

West Brom Game Matchday Thread
at 22:20 9 Dec 2025

Tonda needs to sort this problem out.
We have to play for 90 mins +.
Teams are going to suss us out if we don't change.
We are just not very good defensively that's why we must keep on the offensive.
We look good when going forward, but we look really dodgy at the back.
I'm not sure what happens at half time, does Tonda tell them to save their energy & just manage the game out because if we continue to do that our bubble will definitely burst.

I must be well out of touch because I've never heard of any of these bands & I'm sure that I'm not alone on that score.

Just can't understand how or why it's taken until he's 26 years old to get recognised as a great footballer.
He is unique & virtually unplayable, he changes the whole dimension of the team.
It's not just his ability that is pustanding it's his character & attitude.
BUT how long can we keep him ?.
If you've got time find his 10 minute interview on Saints Website, it's absorbing, the guy is just brilliant.

Tonda confirmed as Head Coach.

Think positive.
What happens if we win both those games, I'm sure we will then start to believe in Tonda.
Let's not write him off, he can only work with what he's got but I personally have good vibes about him, you get lucky managers & I think he's one of them.

It was never in doubt really.
It's SR's way.
Now we must give him a chance but it won't be easy for him.

Just watched the World Cup Draw. How embarrassing
at 19:13 5 Dec 2025

Cannot believe how chaotic the draw was for the World Cup.
It was like a Christmas Pantomime.
If that's the best the Americans can do then can't imagine what the competition is going to be like.
Closed by a Tribute to The Village People.
At least it made me laugh.

Southampton On Verge Of Managerial Appointment
at 16:19 5 Dec 2025

Picking up on your point " that TE has no experience of running a club beyond picking the team".
The team Manager/ Coach does not run the club so doesn't need that experience.
His role is get the players he's given fit, coach them & pick the match day team then win football matches.
It's early days for TE but so far he has passed those tests, thats why I think the job is his if he wants it.
The problem he may have is dealing with players with big ego's & larger salaries than he has.

All very well saying that TE isn't the right person for the job.
I agree that he has an awful lot to prove but what are the alternatives.
I personally can't think of anyone that's any good that is available that would be any better than TE.
Carrick = No
Gerrard = No
O'Neil = No
Martin = No

Is Formula 1 bent?

And it's NOT a Sport.
Any event that can be won or lost by a pit stop is crazy.
It's not a test of Driver skills.
A combination of any so called Sport & gambling will breed corruption.
How many on this forum are interested in Formula one, NOT many I bet.
( there you go, it's even got me gambling).

What was Bazunu doing for their winning goal ?
at 13:15 1 Dec 2025

Baz makes simple saves look spectacular but can't deal with anything that's a bit more difficult.
He is so easily beaten from distance & is not commanding enough or brave enough to deal with corners & ball into the box.
Goalkeeping is a real problem for us because neither Macca or Baz are good enough but of the two Macca is the better.

Or just play both of them together.

I know most on this forum will disagree with me but I think Macca is a much better keeper than Baz.
Not saying that Macca is great, but he's much calmer than Baz & I am sure the defence feel more comfortable with him behind them.
Put yourself in our defenders position & which one would you prefer to have behind you.
We can no longer protect Baz by saying he's still young & will get better but he's now very experienced & has not improved, he's just not commanding enough in the box.
He & Slack Jack together are the two main reasons that we revert back to tippy tippy playing across the back.
When we got promoted two seasons ago it was mainly because Baz was out injured & Macca played last few games including the play offs.
I'm convinced we would not have won the play offs with Baz in goal ( but we'll never know).
