He was excellent and as said, looks like he could cut it at Prem level. I still think Kone gets too much stick. There’s lots to like about this squad and manager.

Mbengue was definitely cramp. Did excellent again against a good winger. Same think for Dembele. Saito looked like a hamstring.

Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread

Very proud of the side there. Stephan set us up well. Summerville was the difference. That’s what I want to see from a qpr side. Win, lose or draw. And to be fair to them, I was running out of steam come extra time!

Sell Jon Varane ?

I think everyone seems to be in the “sell” camp at 5-6m. The difference seems to be where people think he’s any good or not.

Well said mate. Seems popular with the younger fans too and is genuinely a good lad it seems. Doesn’t deserve a song apparently though 😂

Ronnie returns, but is it the handsome deal QPR hope? – Signing

Yeah the Saito amount sounds crazy. He has been good in patches but don’t think he’s worth the money spent. Would have spent on left back and another striker.

Agree with all the above. And yes, I think Mbengue should be our right back going forward. He’s quick and gets us up the pitch, and has marked the best wingers in league out of the game. Be interesting to see how he does tomorrow

Did we only come in for him due to the results from 26th December onwards? I always thought it must have been discussed way before then given Edwards was last in their squad on 13th December. Isn’t it more because Cook will likely be gone in the summer and we don’t “trust” JCS to get back consistently. That leaves Dunne, Morrison and Mbengue. Edwards is better than all of them in my view and can play centre back for us for a long time. It’s a long term signing which I like and we’re much better with a JCS or Edwards alongside Dunne.

Now we need to start selling though!

RND - Whats occurring ??

There aren’t that many 3 game weeks in rest of the season, I think 1 per month plus Easter period.

Oh yes of course. But has to be unconditional.

As Steve or Andy said on Clive’s podcast, a good signing this window is one that isn’t a panic buy / loan for next 6 months but one for this season and beyond. That’s exactly what Ronnie is. At 22, he’ll be our starting centre back alongside Dunne for the foreseeable future.

Pointless to loan him out first. Either buy him now or wait until summer.

Might be 4.5m all in with add-ons I would think. Also, I think in summer it was closer to 6m-7m they were after

Not only is he a c@nt but he’s 50 now. I know we need left back cover but I think Ben Thatcher signing would be a bit desperate.

Another thing is that he’s a good player but with something to prove after the season so far with Southampton. That’s a great combination for us.

6m+ before and now 4.5m and imagine that includes add-ons. Think it’s a good deal and good use of Eze money. Fair play to the board for spending and not banking the cash.

We have 2 injury prone centre backs, so he’ll start there and be cover elsewhere. We have 2 first choice full backs and he can do a better job as cover than anyone else in the squad. He can also cover centre midfield as doesn’t seem Stephan is big fans of Hayden and Field. The only issue is that he can’t play all those positions at the same time but I understand he’s working on that.

You said he was league 2 footballer. If he’s able to completely dominate a player like Demerai Gray and also provide an attacking threat, that’s a hell of a league 2 footballer. We could do with 11 of that standard. He’s inconsistent because he’s barely played at this level and is also developing as a right back. Of course we could improve every position but I’d say there’s 9 or 10 other positions above him that would be replaced first. Personally I think he’s got huge potential and he’s already at a very good level and we’re awful defensively without him.
