Not another thread questioning his ability - that debate has been flogged to death. I think Richard needs to be given a game off. There's no way he can play at the level that is needed when he has played every game, often with very little reward to boost his morale. We need to get the below par and jaded players out of the equation. I know it leaves us short of experience but we need players who are firing right now. |

Good interview and I am behind Jimmy. Interesting that he alludes to more clarity being needed. If the players are 'honest', as he and JS (repeatedly) say, then something needs to be looked at because it is not manifesting itself onto the pitch. By clarity I hope he means that more needs to be done in terms of the players buying into and implementing the game plan/effort. From what I saw today several of the players clearly were not 100% committed to the plan/cause and the disconnect rubbed off on others whose standards/performances dropped. I know we are short of players but the management team need to test all of the players resolves now. I don't care how senior or talented they might be. If they are not 100% committed to the cause now then get them out and put others in their places even if it means we have 4, 5, 6 Devt Squad players out there. |

Kieron Morgan would be doing better if he was playing alongside Field. He's been moved from pillar to post by our Chef. How can he be expected to do well against that Boro defence when he is thrust into an unfamiliar role ? |

2-0 now. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It's like being locked up in a room with the Crankies and unable to escape. |

I think Dunne looks resigned to our fate. After about an hour in games, when games are up, he just tries to hold it together and see that we keep 11 players on the pitch. |

Lots of good points in this thread, particularly from the first time poster. I think it's fair to say that both at boardroom level and at management level mistakes have been made. I can actually sympathise with Nourry to a degree because he is trying to make us more sustainable and to put the foundations in at youth level and build up from there. It is not easy when probably more than two thirds of the division are trying to buy their way to success (the last three teams that we have played being perfect examples of this). I do agree with the concern regarding Stephan's connection and more importantly his strategy. We need a stronger willed character in the hot seat who will refuse to ply the 'hard-done-by' line in his pressers and demand that we keep pace with the top half teams and find ways to deal with them. The excuses don't rub with me. Additionally, tactically he is really poor at reacting to what other teams are doing and grinding out results. Once again yesterday the midfield wasn't fit to nullify Boro and it was only a matter of time before they scored 2 or 3 goals. [Post edited 9 Mar 11:55]

I think we have already had this debate. I'm on the side of Mr Beef. Mr Kone was playing on Hackney Marshes no less than 4 years ago. He has something but it is going to take time to come through at this level. |

Agree with you on Boro. They must do a lot of ballwork in triangles and small groups, under pressure. That side of their game was very impressive. You do need to have the same players playing though to do that. I imagine they don't have too many injuries. So much harder to try and instigate a passing game when you've got Madsen-Hayden-Dembele- Chair doing it one week, Varane-Smyth-Vale-Morgan the next etc etc etc |

Is that the graphic for the first goal ? When we suddenly pushed Morgan up to the front line and had 4 players on the halfway line while they were passing it around us at will until they scored ? JS should be sacked for that tactical decision alone. |

Stephan cost us the first goal. We were hanging on (with the 4-3-3) but then. for some reason he pushes Morgan up into a front four, they launch an attack, it becomes 7 against 6 and they overload us and score. Have a look on the highlights. JS cost us that game. |

Just thinking about tomorrow. The 2 strikers is not really working with Burrell out. Plus with only 2 CM's we are extremely vulnerable to being flooded in midfield when we lose the ball. I think it is time for 3 CM's in the shape of Varane, Morgan and Vale. Smyth and Saito wide and Kone up front. Right back, I prefer to see Mbengue. I think he is marginally better against a winger than Ronnie and he also goes on good runs. |

What a load of b*ll*cks I don't want to see us go up having finished 8th and then to be slaughtered every week in the Prem Wouldn't mind seeing it happen to Millwall, Norwich, Stoke, Cardiff etc. however |

Another thing which is a bit ridiculous is posting the three outlying players right on the halfway line when we're defending corners. I do agree with leaving one or two up but Walsh struggles to kick the ball accurately to the halfway line when he has a full six seconds yet alone when he's in a rush to do it before the opposition players get back. If we are going to leave three players out (which I agree with) it should be two on the halfway line, both reasonably centrally but splitting the middle and one about halfway for a headed clearance. Does anyone actually think we are going to find any of the three on the halfway line from one of our own corners in all time that we adopt this tactic ? |

Technically, I think he's good. Apart from once when his close control saw him pass straight into the path of the Sheff U player, I thought he was quite tidy. The problem is that he's not ready mentally, knowing when to grind it out and when to play expansive football. That's why he should be out on loan. In due course he will be good if he sticks with the EFL. [Post edited 1 Mar 20:28]
