I got a taxi to the Station a month or to back and the cab had a Bournemouth plate. The driver said that Radio taxis had taken over a Taxi Company in Bournemouth and he was up here getting used to the company's booking system. He also said that Southampton was a lot busier for Taxi drivers due to the cruise business and also two Universities. Wonder if Radio Taxis have expanded into Pompey? |

Like Nick I was born on Merseyside and could have followed either of the clubs as I was growing up and indeed used to enjoy watching Liverpool and Everton when we were up visiting family during the football season. However my Dad was a Saints fan and we lived in Milton Road when I was a kid. My Dad took me to a game at The Dell before I was at school and I enjoyed the experience until the Albion Band stopped playing pre KO and my Dad had to take me home!!!!!!! We then moved out to the east of Southampton but I was able to start watching Saints at Primary School age, with my Dad, despite the long bus journey to/from the game. With a gang of lads from school we then began to go to a lot of away games and even to the odd Reserve game at The Dell. Our school had quite a few Pompey fans so it was good that we had the upper hand from 1960. The SCUM Strike breaking accusation is nonsense and was never mentioned when I was at School as it was/is completely untrue. The only strike breaking was by Pompey Dockers in November 1976 and this can be verified by reports in the Portsmouth News & Daily Echo. Plenty of disappointment as a Saints fan but more than made up by the occasional high spots. Enjoying the current upsurge in form. Long may it continue. |

I thought Baz did OK and overall I dont think he is the weak link that many people he is. Understand that Ramsdale was a step up in quality but that what £20m+ buys you. Baz is quick on his feet and relatively agile but does suffer from his relative lack of height. That said it was interesting to note that Ryan Fraser was making the big defender in the penalty area who scored the second goal. |

Its the same with famous Rock & Pop stars. Recent research reckons that they die much earlier than the average for their age groups both in the USA and Europe. There is some suggestion it is all a Conspiracy. |

You must be enjoying being ahead of the RS in the table and having such a decent new ground to play at. I was up in Liverpool last week and had a wander around the outside of the Bramley Moore Stadium. Very impressive and apparently the acoustics are great. |

Pompey News were bigging up Pompey taking 1,300 to Sheffield Utd last night (that after a morale boosting home win v Millwall on Saturday) In comparison Saints sold out their 2,770 allocation at the same ground, again for an evening game, in the midst of a very poor run of results. |

Think a few players live in Winchester. Orio Romeu did before he left Shane Long lived in Nomansland just up the road from Les Mirabelle restaurant |

I seem to remember going to Loftus Rd when Terry Curran was sent off. Anyone go when QPR had a plastic pitch? |

Just goes to show what could happen if we had a forward who provides a decent aerial presence. |

The railways are coming back under public ownership and this is expected to be completed in 2027. Shame there arent any plans for Football specials. |

Re comment about Sport Republic. I agree that recruitment under Sports Republic has not been that great or provided value for money. That said we have spent more that more or less any other club in the Championship this year and , hopefully, some/all of the new recruits will benefit the team going forward. The major issue in my mind, during Sport Republic, especially this year is not finding a suitable goalscoring/target type centre forward. Downs seems to be another waste of money and finds himself below Archer, Edwards and Armstrong as the main striker. The question I ask of people who say 'get rid of Sport Republic, who do you think will replace them? There are plenty of worse owners out there. The owners could easily have pocketed the £80m or so from recent transfers and not invested a decent wedge back into the club. I can sympathise with those who are frustrated with the teams start to the season but I would rather look at the performance of Recruitment, Management and Players than the owners at this stage. |

I went to school in Fareham for a while and we used to have Saints v Pompey games at break time and we all got on well together. The problems started in the mid sixties when hooliganism first reared its head and Pompey came up to cause problems at John Hollowbread's Testimonial. It then got worse when the story was fabricated about Southampton Dockers 'strike breaking', when the only known evidence of this is when Dockers in the Commercial Port in Pompey broke an agreement not to handle a Brittany Ferry ship in November 1976. |

Is it a good or bad thing that the supporters of quite a few teams have taken to sing 'our song'. Spurs started it and quite a lot of supporters, particularly those who's team play in red have used 'our' refrain. Some junior Spurs fans seem to think we have copied them for the song. In some respects we have by following Spurs lead and slowing down the tempo. Perhaps we should go back to the original faster version. |

Assuming 2,500 away fans on an average of 50 per bus/coach = 50 vehicles. Will be quite a parade!! 4 cruise ships in port plus the Boat Show. Not a day for a bit of shopping!! |
