When I left tmy union I was already a long time disillusioned with unions generally and thought the top dogs were ;ike politicians, in it for themselves and now there's this about McC, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp3kgg55410o I think Scargill used the miners and Alan Johnson used the CWU. While that's obviously just my opinion, McC looks stuffed. |
 | Forum Thread | No more tax raises at 17:49 9 Jul 2025
No, instead we may see the personal tax allowance frozen for longer, so not extra taxes but as pay rises then more people are dragged into paying tax. It seems like another measure to target the poorer people in society and ket the rich off the hook again. SO, will Starmer do it? |
 | Forum Thread | The Gwent levels at 20:38 2 Jul 2025
The Senedd wouldn't put a road across it for ecological reasons but it sems they aren't averse to all developments on that land, walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/this-irretrievably-damage-nationally-important-31974084?int_source=nba I understand the need for more renewable energy but we can't keep damaging habitats to get that sustainable electricity.. Who remembers Drakefirds stance at the time? Mr Drakeford's move to scrap the six-lane scheme follows a public inquiry overseen by planning inspector Bill Wadrup, who said the case for the road had been "compelling". Ministers had decided that, with austerity and Brexit in the background, the uncertainty of the financial position of the Welsh Government meant the project was too expensive. But Mark Drakeford said he would not have gone ahead even if it was affordable because of the impact on the Gwent Levels. Mr Cairns said: "It appears that the first minister thinks he knows better than the independent inquiry." These solar farm schemes could cover even more land than the motorway if they are all approved and once one is approved it sets a precedent. So what of the impact on the levels now Mark Drakeford? |

Still putting its image ahead of what is right then, bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce3velqy9rzo Or maybe it was because the Bishop was hoping to be made Archbishop? Clearly he would be a bad choice. |
 | Forum Thread | Assisted dying in Wales at 22:00 25 Jun 2025
I have said several times I back the assisted dying law going through Westminster but now it could be that living in Wales means we won't get that choice. The Senedd has voted against this law once already and now, well read it, walesonline.co.uk/news/politics/welsh-nhs-only-help-terminally-31934708 So if the Senedd says no then the right to end your own life (in Wales) won't be allowed. Will we see people heading to England to exercise what I believe should be a personal right. A right that could save Welsh health services millions too. |
 | Forum Thread | Rubbish collections at 21:42 25 Jun 2025
The Senedd has done it then, recommended to Welsh councils that balck bags should only be collected every 3 to 4 weeks because that is sufficient, walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/welsh-councils-told-only-collect-31930619 They are saying that 60L per week is enough for "black bag"waste and a wheelie bin holds 240L but what they miss there is that a decent chunk of the wheelie bin is space, put 3 black bags in and around 20-30% (at a guess) is wasted space. It also says that of the 22 councils only a few ciollect every 3 weeks with Conwy being at 4 weeks. Most are forthnightly Will this work across the whole of Wales or is it thet start of fly tipping? Speaking for our house our bin has 3 bags in it every collection and sometimes (at Christmas for example) we have extra bags and we recycle everything we can but we also buy a lot online and have it delivered and there is always a lot of unrecycleable packaging.. Our council tax bills have risen again and they are saying that from now on there could be 5% rises year on year. It's more of the same then, our bills continue to rise while our services get cut. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c056zqn6vvyo Is this genuine or is it more fake news to try and gull people into hating Iran and to justify a war? The Ayatillah's do themselves no favours and are in most of the Wests bad books anyway but if this were true then will we see yet another gulf war? Will the USA be asking it's allies to send troops too? After the Bush and Blair flockwittery, does anybody want another one? Look at what that caused. |

How can people claim that the push for EV is saving the planet when the mining is killing off habitats, destroying the diversity of life and causing pollution, to save the planet, we desrtroy the environment? Seems totally absurd and crazy to me. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0k36v50zvro |

bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5yqwy1yl8yo Under these plans we'd be "allocated" an appointment and pardon my cynicism but who knows how far away that could be? Imagine living in Skewen and getting an appoitment in Cardiff. Then, if they say your teeth are healthy you'll wait 18-24 months for the next check up. It's a consultation until the 19th June, make sure to have your say. [Post edited 7 Jun 17:44]

Just what the absolute f&%k walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/became-reviled-man-judge-jailed-31695067 They ruined his life, cost his family hundreds of thousands, left him a broken man and when he's decalred innocent they say that...I'm gobsmacked. Not only is it another injustice, by saying that they will fuel anybody who still says he's guilty, "ah but the MoJ say it's not beyond reasonable doubt so he's guilty" because people are like that. The court found him innocent so pay up you absolute cockwombles. |

He;s at it again then, bbc.co.uk/news/live/cpqe7rp388vt I'm not sure Black people are readu to hear about "white persecution" I mean, we all know it's gone on in parts, in Zimbabwe they robbed white farmers of their land. I'm sure there's plenty I either forgot or haven't heard about but these days what we hear about is relatives of the enslaved demanding reparations. Maybe we need to follow Trump and push back at it. |
 | Forum Thread | What is school for? at 16:22 12 May 2025
My son has started his exams., he tells me he isn't having proper lessons anymore and several of his teachers are now supply teachers who haven't got lessons to teach them and they suaully sit around doing nothing. The school has said pupols can take study leave but only after half term which start on 26/5 by which time my son will have done 8 of his 10 exams. Is it only myself that thinks this is silly? If he's not being taught anything, why make him attend schoold to do nothing? Why can't he revise at home? In his case, also, he knows what he wants to do and has already been accepted to Neath college to do a course leading to an apprenticeship. Rightly or wrongly (I've tried persuading him to do his best in all exams) he is targetting the 4 he needs to guarantee his college place. NPT council has made this decision, is it only myself that finds it silly to only offer study leave when he has nearly finished his exams? He's already looking for a job for when he can walk away from school, to see him through to college and he may have one, he's waiting to hear back. Why does the council push this ine size fits all rule with no room for debate. |
