Ah, clever, time it for when everyone is going on holiday

Seriously though, pleased they've got one in the calendar, hope it's a good one.

That was me last night at various intervals, seems I must have eaten something that didn't agree with me

Feeling knackered this morning and not helped by finding a flat tyre on the car first thing so had to get that sorted as well

Has to be Carse. I love Woakes but he rarely does well in overseas Tests, and he's not getting any younger.

A lot of fair debate about Crawley, but he and Duckett do have a reasonable record as openers. Meanwhile the Aussies still don't have a definite opening pair and the rest of their batting isn't set in stone, compared to England's. And the only other question mark is Pope, with Bethell waiting for his chance. Not a terrible problem to have.

As mentioned it's the bowling unit that is most important in Oz and having your fastest bowlers fit and available. Questions to be asked of the strength and conditioning team (do they also work for QPR??).

Yeah I'd forgotten the current Aussie team is not all that.

Still wouldn't take them lightly - and any Lions Test series win should be cherished!

New Spoons….
at 15:11 7 Jul 2025

Hadn't been in a Spoons for ages but we made it into one on Saturday night in Birmingham's Chinatown - pub called The Dragon Inn (chuckles).

Passed the time watching the Lionesses labour to defeat - very much enjoyed the Aperol Spritzes at a fiver a pop, really can't knock that!

Have to say their back catalogue is really quite something and the clips I've seen look amazing.

I did see them in 2000 at the Reebok Stadium and the crowd was full of pissed up idiot Mancs (and getting trains back to Manchester after was a shambles) so I think that put me off this time round.

That old line

Mbengue comes across as the classic QPR player with a bit of a screw loose who we all love.

Didn't the Posh chairman say he expects Poku to get sold for big bucks in a few years? Well here's hoping.

Roof advice

We had a slow leak which supposedly got fixed last year although I'm not entirely convinced.

The house had a loft conversion done years ago by previous owners and it was clearly done by cowboys on the cheap. I'm not even sure they used a membrane for the roofing where they did the work?

Cheers. Although I was in the Hollies stand (a mate booked the tickets) and I've realised I'm too old and grumpy for it these days Fine though if you're starting on the beers at 10am.

Plus we had a couple of tw8tish Fulham fans sat behind us (not the Rupert kind) who got more annoying as they got more p1ssed.

They should just have something like umpire's call in cricket for anything marginal like that one on Saturday night.

But it's probably too sensible so they'll never do it.

Even though Sibley plays for Surrey I still think he deserves another chance. Crawley will of course get another go at Lord's but if he fails there then the calls will get louder for him to be dropped. Same for Pope. Also with Bashir it just feels like they're investing in him and he will play come what may - I'm still not convinced by him but let's see.

Main issue at Edgbaston was really the bowling as the India bowlers got a lot more out of the pitch. Most likely Atkinson and possibly Archer will come back in at Lord's and hopefully add more fire to the attack. But the India trio of Deep, Siraj and Bumrah in their current form will be very tough.

I was there on Saturday and while not a great day as an England fan, Pant was entertaining as ever and props to Shubman Gill - a young man taking on the captaincy and then batting like that. Amazing.

Hadn't seen a thread on this - looking forward to the Tests, I've been getting in the mood watching the various Living With Lions documentaries they've got on Sky that cover previous tours; just finished the 2001 one (felt Lions could have won that tour but possibly were undone by self-harm with the controversial press articles that came out from Dawson and Healey). On to the 2005 one, where BOD got taken out of the tour by that spear tackle in the first minute of the 1st Test

To be fair to Stokes today it was an excellent ball that got him; and it was his first ever golden duck in Tests.

I was there for that one, probably one of the best QPR goals I've seen live.
