How will 30k plus Turkish supporters affect Wales ?,
at 00:40 16 Jun 2021

2003 Keith ? Great trip. 👍😎
We stayed in Bergamo. Beautiful day on the Friday in the old city. Shame about the result and idiots in the level above us in the San Siro. The Ultras and the Italian old bill got a bit wound up I recall. 😬

Who can beat England in the Euros ?
at 00:24 7 Jun 2021

Italy can’t really be described as ‘dark horses’ to be fair. Have won their last 7 consecutive matches without conceding a goal and haven’t lost a match since September 2018 ( Portugal 1-0 )

That’s rubbish!! My son’s U12’s had 22 turn up for training this evening. All loving it and can’t wait to get playing matches again. We’ve turned 4 lads away in the last month cos our age group is full.

Bob Latchford 70 today.
at 23:36 18 Jan 2021

Correct mate. My apologies. And 82 & 83!!! Scored 2 in the 2nd leg of the final at the Vetch in 82.

The article I was reading was referring to the fact that by 86-87 the Welsh Cup final had become a traditional one off final (even though it went to a replay!) which that year was played on a neutral venue rather than a 2 leg affair. Obviously inaccurate headline regarding Bob’s first trophy but maybe they thought winning a cup over 2 legs didn’t count.?

Bob Latchford 70 today.

Remember seeing Bob Latchford scoring for Merthyr in the 1986 Welsh Cup Final. His first trophy!! Despite his illustrious career the quote at the time was 'Once the most expensive footballer in Britain, he had to join Merthyr Tydfil to win a medal' !!
He was at 36 by then and I remember one old character on the terrace at Penydarren Park seeing Bob stretch for a header at the far post saying 'he rose like a bag of cement' !!!

Sholud Wales rollout vaccination at full speed.
at 21:10 18 Jan 2021

The pace of the rollout in Wales is certainly disappointing when compared to England. However there is another issue that needs to be highlighted which nobody seems to be questioning at the moment.
The CMOs of the 4 home nations all agreed that the 2nd vaccine dose should be delayed from 3 weeks to up to 3 months. Pfizer has clearly stated that they have no efficacy data for this delay, and other countries, such as the USA, have continued to follow the Pfizer guidelines and vaccinated 2nd doses at the recommended interval.
Despite my concerns about efficacy ( Pfizer's initial data suggested 52% protection after one dose ) I understand the argument for delaying the 2nd dose and vaccinating as many people as possible as quickly as possible.
When I last saw an update Wales had administered just 129 2nd doses. England has administered over 400,000 2nd doses. What's going on there then and what might be the effects on immunity of this delay?
This might be an explanation for some of Drakeford's spare vaccines?? Health Boards were originally told that they must have a guaranteed 2nd dose available for every 1st dose given.

dementia and rugby
at 10:45 10 Dec 2020

As a coach of mini and junior rugby my personal view is that scrum caps give the kids a false sense of security. Too many times have I seen kids put one on and then think they are invincible, charging head down into contact. They undoubtedly protect against minor, superficial cuts and bruises but as has been correctly stated, they don’t prevent the jolt to the brain from a high impact collision.
Education and awareness for coaches, parents and kids around concussion protocols is the priority. Some great progress has been made in this area in my experience.

There is also the bigger picture about what we want the game to look like in the future? A high contact game played only by giants or the more attractive, expansive style of evasion and skill open to all shapes and sizes?

Glasgow Rangers
at 14:01 19 Oct 2020

Bit disappointed by some of the posts on this thread to be honest. Some real self righteous nonsense in response to my moderate post. Not asking anyone to agree with me and not saying anything extreme, in my opinion.
First and foremost, my forefathers fought fascism, aggression and intolerance. They did not fight for some idea of a British/English Empire. One of the many benefits of their sacrifices is our freedom of speech and opinion. Some on here seem to be forgetting that, and this is the real shame to their memory. So yes, I will wear a poppy thanks, as I always do, to remember those of all nations who lost their lives. To suggest I would do otherwise just because of an expressed interest in a certain football club is insulting.
Finally, if you Google Search sectarian hatred, then you find sectarian hatred. It is not exclusively one sided, and in my experience the majority of people I’ve met from both sides are not extreme in their views.

Totally agree with this 👍👍
I am a proud Welshman and do not identify, in any way, with the red, white and blue, God save the queen, Union Jack, King Billy, LOL or any of the other symbolism of Glasgow Rangers and it’s supporters.
When I lived in Glasgow, a mate of mine from Borth, Aberystwyth and I used to take a big Wales flag to Parkhead. We were always warmly welcomed as fellow Celts, as were Welsh players like Big John Hartson, Bellamy, Ledley and Matthews.
Remember during one Auld Firm game seeing a big St George’s cross with Rangers, Chelsea, Cardiff and Linfield in the quarters. Say no more!!! Everyone’s entitled to their opinions and allegiances, but it’s not for me.

Matchday Thread : England v Wales

Ronaldo playing for Portugal but his Juventus teammate Ramsey not able to play for us tonight?? Odd that ??
That said, Giggs would probably have saved him for Nations League games anyway, and given others an opportunity as suggested.

Merthyr mothballed for the season
at 10:49 29 Sep 2020

I usually enjoy reading your posts Kilk, and agree with the majority of what you say, but got to disagree with this.
The town of Merthyr has a long and proud history of football, including membership of the Football League, Welsh Cup wins when it was a proper competition, famous players, European football and FA Cup adventures, which the supporters of the club certainly care about by the way. Since the invention of the League of Wales the club and it’s supporters have been treated with contempt by some in the FAW. Most notably was the enforced exile (a fate shared with Newport and Colwyn Bay at various stages). My understanding was that this was considered again in recent weeks but was ultimately not financially achievable, contributing to the mothballing decision
Remember the arguement of forcing a club to play in a national competition that it, and it’s supporters have never historically been involved in could certainly have been applied to Newport a few years back and could also apply to the Swans, our ‘neighbours’ and our North Wales cousins.

Know quite a lot of Swans fans around the Abergavenny/Monmouth area. It’s nearly 70miles to the Liberty from our house and we’re closer to The Hawthorns, Ashton Gate and obviously the Cardiff City Stadium. Would only ever go there for a Wales game though (or in the away end for a South Wales derby)

Interesting to see that Rees-Mogg has made a reappearance now that it’s all over. Funny how they kept him under wraps, just in case ‘Workington Man’ woke up and remembered what Tories are really like. One Nation Conservatives my ar*e. 🙄

Who would make a Wales Euro 2020 squad of 23 if all players are fit ?

I’d quite like Giggs to use the possible friendly dates in March and May to bring some more of the U21’s such as Neco Williams and Robbie Burton into the senior squad.

Dirty Lids thread...
at 22:37 26 Aug 2019

I regularly read the posts on the PS forum, and occasionally post myself. I enjoy the majority of informed opinion and banter, however, as a Swans fan, I must say that I find the bigoted, sectarian views of some of my fellow Swans supporters, about the Old Firm teams boring, pathetic and irrelevant. Everyone on here supports Swansea right?? (Apart from visitors from Cardiff, Newport etc.). So, can we give the animosity to the Old Firm a rest??
I’ve lived in Glasgow and loved the sporting passion of the city. Like all clubs, Leeds included, there are good and bad fans, but I found the majority to be fine. I completely understand the history of both clubs and their supporters, and attended a number of Old Firm games. Personally, I am Welsh first, and identify more with my celtic ( small c ) cousins than the red, white and blue, royalist, Union Jack waving side. Not asking anyone else to agree with me but also not asking for a load of abuse. Just grow up a bit.

Just remember that the European window remains open til the end if the month (02/09/19 I think) so could still lose players even after ours closes tomorrow!! Could be good or bad depending on who departs.

Are you happy with our transfer window so far
at 23:29 7 Aug 2019

Didn’t Surridge join on a season long loan?? If so, I think Bournemouth can obviously recall him in the January transfer window, but only if a recall clause has been agreed in advance. Anybody know if this is the case??

Reasonably happy with business at the moment, but will be happier if we have managed to get rid of Ayew by the time the window closes but have kept Baston and VdH.
