‘Arry can do a job til the end of the season. Million quid survival bonus. |

To be fair to the fans I think they’ve been largely against the whole thing and could see it for what it was. I think most would have stomached it for success just about. Probably best to keep one’s head down if in those blocks either side, particularly to the left of the away end. |

Officially, no. Unofficially I’m sure there’ll be a few. |

If someone is stupid enough to give us enough for Varane to fund Edwards and RND that would be tremendous business IMO. Can’t see it playing out like that. |

An inevitable next step in Sky’s proud boasting of showing every team eleventy billion times per season. Great viewing figures I’m sure and probably the difference between plenty of people actually attending the match and not. |

Slight concern they’ll have the benefit of some sort of new manager bounce. |

The famous Smyth and Smith combo if I recall correctly. Perhaps the most big man-little man combo in the history of the club. |

Did Frey touch the ball? I refuse to believe if we’re chucking someone on when one of the strikers are knackered that Bennie wouldn’t offer at least as much. Good bloke and all that but he’s gone from crap cult hero to just dreadfully crap this season. Give the kid a chance. |

Good example today to suggest yes he very much does. Might have put his foot on the ball for start rather than it bouncing off the two wingers we did start. |

Hard to say who was at fault for that first half as it was such a clown show all over but when we’re playing like we have no midfield defensively I’m putting that on Varane mainly. Saito was again anonymous, the ball rarely stuck when played up to the forwards, Mbengue was breezed past. Second half I moved to a spot with a considerably worse view and it all seemed fine. |

I know it was a gag on the generally awful Gavin and Stacey but I do just use tin foil now on the rare occasions I bother at all. Or just chuck it in a bag. The recipient doesn’t care. |

Last season we got the train down and had a very pleasant time by the marina before the game, nice pub etc. Any recommendations on parking / pubs / what’ll be open? |

Gatwick is also super easy for Shepherds Bush. Half an hour into Clapham then a short train from there. If you want something as cheap as possible I’ve used the Comfotel GRN hotel before when we’ve had a night game and I’m in London early the next day. Glamorous it is not but dirt cheap, clean and a short walk from the ground. Close to the tube too. |

I think as we’re doing reasonably well it tips the balance in fans’ minds about who was to blame. If we’d gone into it 20th in the league with fans baying for Nourry and the manager which didn’t seem unlikely not long ago I could imagine a very different welcome for him. But bollocks to him. Last season was mostly crap and, for now, the club’s decision has been vindicated. |

Poor as he was, those two in midfield were basically left to do it all on their own. Ayew and Reid were embarrassing for such experienced (and no doubt well-remunerated) players. The wingers had no interest in defending at all. I think it could have been more of a shellacking second half had the referee not sought to treat it like an under-8s game showing mercy to the losing side. Was happy to be abused by Reid in particular and Ayew could easily have picked up a second yellow for the foul by R block if not his constant whinging. Something has definitely happened there since beating Ipswich and going 2 up at Bristol City even if they weren’t exactly brilliant in either. Interested to see how they get on over the next few weeks as stuff like delaying the staff wages will have ripples. Real fun if they do get a significant points deduction and suddenly are battling it out to avoid relegation. A few of them hoping to get out in January I’m sure but bar Fatawu I can’t see many queuing up to take them. |
