FAO the Mods
at 00:34 13 Jul 2023

Ok, lets have a grown up chat.

I did try and post on the "Posters Endangering The Site by ModeratorD " but as everyone can see, the text of my post was removed, even though it was not offensive or derogatory in any way.

So why can't we discuss the main headlines on the UK national news?

And as for "Endangering The Site"... this is on this site:
https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/forum/299243/page:1

Not that I expect this thread will see the light of day

If you are not a "Mod", then please read but don't comment, as I would like an explanation from them only. Thank you

Looking for more funding from Edinburgh or London, threatening to re-join Norway and be ruled from Oslo.

Brilliant bit of brinksmanship, could you imagine what claim they would have on the North Sea gas, that would sink the SNP

A cap of two clubs per country will be applied to the access list with an exception in cases where more than two clubs from the same country win the confederation’s premier club competition over the four-year period.

The tournament will have a group phase comprising eight groups of four teams each, with the top two qualifying for the last 16.

Stradey Park Hotel
at 11:07 7 Jun 2023

In a row over a popular hotel in Turk-town possibly hosting asylum seekers, somebody has dumped boulders outside the hotel overnight

Five boulders have been placed at the entrance of a hotel set to house hundreds of asylum seekers.

It is unclear who put the rocks in front of the Stradey Park Hotel in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire.

Carmarthenshire council said it was aware of the boulders at the scene, but said it had nothing to do with them.

Local group the Furnace Action Committee said it was not responsible, and a manager at the hotel confirmed the business had not put them there.

The manager - who did not want to be identified - said staff noticed the stones at about 11:00 BST on Tuesday

They are the lowest of the low.

Universal basic income
at 11:24 5 Jun 2023

A universal basic income of £1,600 a month is to be trialled in England for the first time in a pilot programme.

Thirty people will be paid a lump sum without conditions each month for two years and will be observed to understand the effects on their lives.

Two places in England have been selected for the micro pilot scheme: central Jarrow, in north-east England, and East Finchley, in north London.

Will Stronge, the director of research at the thinktank Autonomy, which is backing the plan, said of the £1,600 figure: “This is a substantial amount. Universal basic income usually covers people’s basic needs but we want to see what effect this unconditional lump sum has on people’s mental and physical health, whether they choose to work or not.

“Our society is going to require some form of basic income in the coming years, given the tumult of climate change, tech disruption and industrial transition that lies ahead. This is why building the evidence base and public engagement now is so important, so the ground is well prepared for national implementation.”

Advocates argue that universal basic income (UBI) can provide a level of economic security to everyone. It is seen as a potential solution to insecurity in the labour market, while others say it is expensive and support should be targeted.

that'll keep the boats from crossing the channel alright

I didnt realise it but Wales has already started trialing it
