Six Nations Thread anyone?
at 21:35 5 Feb 2026

It's been done in Horse Racing for years but this is the time time in Rugby thats it's been done.

Going to be one in each half of every game on ITV in the Six Nations.
I think The Irish Broadcaster RTE is doing the same for their coverage, not sure about France & Italy but they have the option to do it if they want.

When Burrell is back, are we starting with him and Kone up top
at 10:29 5 Feb 2026

Ideally you'd mix it up a bit to keep teams on their toes, you could do a more midfielder type no 10 like Vale/Chair for some games and for others a pure front two of Kone/Burrell

No loans in January

It's a very good sign we are going in the right direction when we don't have a mass panic January window and the number of loan players is very small.

Agree with Clive, it's very dull these days. They had 3 games on at 2pm on Sunday, I flicked between all 3 and apart from last 10 mins at Man Utd they were all as dull as each other

Tin hat on, I thought that was quite a good update from him.
Does explain the Field decsion in a bit more detail which is fair enough.
Interesting Ronnie was on our radar when at Peterbrough

In fairness to them Dembele did look a bad one and was for once a clear contact injury.
I think he'll be out for a while

I do think this is a weird league this year with 2 of the 3 relegated sides not being very good, that doesn't happen very often, once in every 4/5 years. I'm not saying next year is a write off of course we can do well next season but the league is wide open this year, a top 6 place is there for someone this year, some of the teams in and around it are really not that brilliant and I'd include us in that bracket.

He got a new deal in january and another one in June, I think they did it the same as with Frey to spread his wages over a longer deal so spread the money out. I might be wrong on that but I'm not sure why else you'd give out 2 contracts so close to each other.

Next year you will likely have a strong Wolves, Burnley and either West Ham or Leeds making up 3 of the top 6. Plus the 8-10 teams who don't go up and will be decent again.
This is a massive opportunity for someone this year, win our next 2 games and we are right in the mix.

I personally think even if we make the playoffs we won't win them but lets give it everything to try and make them. A good end to the season and finishing top half would be a massive step forward.

Very true but we did give him that contract last summer so seems mad that suddenly we can't afford him. We could have just not given him a second new deal

If they had sold Field I completly get that and think it's a good move. I suppose we get a loan fee and his wages paid I guess but is that going to make that much of a difference for 4 months with regards PSR/FFP

There is no mention from the club about this being with a view to a sale this summer.

This month was the one to cash in on him really, he's a good fit for clubs like Charlton and Norwich who need a bit of experience to get over the line. I don't think we'll get as many people wanting hto buy him in the summer.

The club told him to find a new club last August so I don't think he is wanted, whether thats the manager not fancying him or something else I don't know. He's looked very downbeat at the end of games all season, on the fringes of it all rather than how he has looked in previous seasons.

He was poor in pre season and the first few games so the manager may well have had a look and said he's not for me which can happen.

We're one injury away from it being a daft decsion though. I can see why they've done it but as I said for me I'd have loaned out Morgan and kept Field for now.

I'm sure given the choice of you are not wanted here and a chance to play football he was very happy to go but I'm not really sure thats the best thing for QPR at the moment

I think if we sold him this window I'd get that, bring in some money for a player unlikely to be a starter anymore, offers on the table for him as well from Derby by the sound of it but to loan him out when really I doubt Norwich will buy him in the summer once they stay up seems a really strange move.

For me you'd loan out Morgan this window, get him 10/15 games somewhere and keep Field as your back up to Hayden/Varane and cover at left back.

I find it bizarre we've given him two contract extensions in the last year and he was surplus to requirements by August this season.

Good Luck to him though, always gave his best for us, good solid player for us the last few years.

yeah I wouldn't hammer him for it, just switched off at the wrong moment and he'll learn from that. As you say was good play by Eccles as well to create the space
