Training ground is just a building, you need the right people working with the players every day from the head coach to the multitude of performance staff at all age levels.
The club should be reviewing everyone's position at the moment although last time they did that the bloke doing the review gave himself the job
I think we made some good signings last summer, and I still do but whether those promising signings can turn into a good team is very different.
Our signings have always shown great potential over the years, but very few reach it. Kone started off great, but now looks similar to the likes of Dykes. Madsen has performed well. Mbengue, Burrell both very good.
I think Edwards will turn into a good signing and I have high hopes for Poku if he can stay fit.
A lot of money wasted on Dembele,Celar and Saito though, We seem to be spending a lot on these speculative punts, great if they pay off like Madsen less so if they don't.
However, individual performance isn't everything. Do we put them in the best environment to succeed? Number of injuries we get, how unfit they look in 3 game weeks. The number of staff we have are they helping get the best from these players.
The standards set seem to be average is enough so they can be good some weeks bad others and there is no real consequence.
I've a lot of doubts on the manager as well, he's not used a lot of the players well imo, very few have improved but again is that the manager, the performance staff or their own character. I liked the switch to 4-4-2 but less keen on how he plays his wingers, switches players positions so often and his use of subs is awful.
It all comes from the top for me. I could have posted those last 2 paragraphs a year ago even 3 years ago and it would have been valid. Until we get it right at the top nothing will change and it's been rare in the last 25 years that we've got that anywhere near right.
That doesn't mean the manager gets away with it or individual players but get it right at the top and the rest follows.
A culture of this is our cave, no one gets an easy game at Loftus Road. We of course would still lose home games but it would have an impact, this isn't right we must do better. That's how we were in league one and ended with an unbeaten home season because we took pride in that. Thats just one little thing as well.
What exactly are we ripping up that should be kept? That first half last night was a disgrace of a performance, with no effort at all which shows how the good eggs are only good when things are going well. A bit of adversity and we fall apart.
We've had it before under McClaren when we were around playoffs in January and almost relegated by April. Warbs' first season had us near the playoffs in March then after COVID, we lost almost every game and were thankful for a Wigan points deduction. The Beale season playoffs at Christmas almost relegated. Last season around playoffs on Valentineas Day slipped away and needed a win at Oxford to avoid being dragged in. Same again this year, you can blame the manager and I don't think he's doing a great job but it happens almost every season.
Yes we were 7th earlier in the season, so what, Preston and Stoke were 3rd for a while I doubt they are happy with how it ended up either.
I get to this point every year, time to rant away at everything and 12 months time nothing will have changed. I try and be positive, I try so hard to look for the good as it's so easy to focus on the bad, I have done all I can to stay positive on Nourry and think maybe I'm wrong give it time but I always end up here, some years it's a 6-1 at Blackpool this years its a 1-0 at Birmingham, tired, angry and ranting away on a message board likely to feature some mad spelling mistakes.
It's a mess, I'm just sick of it.
10 years of the same bloody season again and again. Good for a few months with a load of crap in between, then needing a few nervy results to avoid going down. It happened under Holloway, McClaren, the first year under Warbs, the Beale/Ainsworth year, Marti last year and again. That's not a coincidence.
The manager will get the sack again either next week if we lose the next two, or in the summer, and it will be the same again.
Heads should be rolling. Hoos, Nourry, Williams, head of methodology, the performance therapist all absolute cobblers. Be gone with them.Get a proper CEO in who knows what he's doing. Get a proper Director of football in who knows what he's doing, get people with experience and ability into positions no more bullshitters. We need good smart people running this place with a bit of bloody ambition to see us win football matches rather than the sole aim being to sell someone.
Good luck with selling Varane by the way, he runs like he's filled his nappy up and seems allergic to a foward pass. Hopefully someone is mad enough to read the data and think he doesn't give the ball away, his stats are great.
Another injury tonight, We'll call it contact to pretend we have no issue with muscle injuries. We were so off the pace again today, looked so much slower than Birmingham.
All that said no excuses for the players either that first half was a disgrace. We got nowhere near the opposition; they just stood and said off you go, we were fur coat no knickers tonight. Who wants some? Boys, help yourself. When we ran around a bit in the second half, it turned out Birmingham were nervy and crap but again our final ball, our finishing, our set pieces all absolutley shit.
As bad as that 6-1 v Blackpool a few years ago, the scoreline does not reflect that first half performance.
We'll probably scrape a win somewhere and stay up but we've spent fortunes on this squad and look like we're going to finish lower with fewer points than not only last season but the one before.
Nowhere near good enough since we beat Leicester in December.
Well yeah I agree but it's an opportunity to submit questions if you want to. I half expect it will be cancelled to be honest if results continue as they are
To be Fair Ned it was you who said that Mark only turns up when we're losing, I think Hunter was just saying thats very unfair. We're obviously all proper supporters, I don't think any of us are doing this for a laugh whatever people's opinions are.
Part of why you won't see protests etc is because there is no universal viewpoint that this person is the one to be removed like you sometimes get with a manager or owner. Even the other year when online the hatred towards Les and Hoos went mad you saw very little of that other than a few stickers and the odd chant at games.
It's genuinely hard to know who is to blame. Some thing Nourry others think the manager or Ben Williams or Lee Hoos. I think it's time for change at the top but it's not as if we were any good before Nourry came in and there's no guarantee the next person will be any better which is why not a lot will happen from fans unless we keep losing then I think the manager will get it.
Just saying a simple, Cook has been a great player for us but we're looking to the future and want to give Robnie Edwards and Dunne a chance to form a partnership and give opportunites to younger players. This whole rested and then ignored thing is ridiculous.
Cook will get my vote for POTY this season.
He's the latest in a long line of people who will leave the club in really poor circumstances, Marti, Furlong now Cook and there have been others. They could walk out the front door head held high for a job well done, we've kicked them out the back.
Pretty much every season for the last 10 years has been the same, we have a good 3 months and a shit 6 months but varies where the good bit happens. Sometimes the good extends to 4 months but is still surrounded by dreadful runs which kill the season
McClaren was sold as an expert with young players as well same as Stephan as he worked with Beckham, Ronaldo etc. First thing he did was ditch the kids and sign a load of older players.
