Something special is happening at Saints with Tonda, we've only lost 2 games all season, we've won 7 out of 8 home games, drawing the remaining one. We've got the joint best goal difference in the league, We've got the joint third top scorer in the league (despite having played less games than those around him), without the minus four we'd be top of the league, we haven't lost to any of the top 12 sides we've played, in fact more than that we've beaten most of them, and arguably we haven't even played at our best yet this season.
This side and this manager are a very good, Tonda has them drilled to be brutally consistent, and i wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we won the league.
And on top of all of that we're doing it with very little attention because our league position is false due to the points deduction.
The next few games are two awful sides in Preston and Derby who we should hammer, Sheffield United who blow hot and cold, and obviously the league leaders Boro. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say by the end of that run we'll be top two at a minimum.
This is not a normal Saints side, and Tonda is not a normal Saints manager |

Exactly how i see it too, somber remembrance and a quiet moment of reflection on the horrendous loss of human life caused by war is what it's about.
It's instead been hijacked by ultra nationalist performance inspired by the US and politicised.
I personally like the last post and like the chance to spend some time considering the past, but i dislike the WHERE'S YOUR POPPY? brigade. |

I think it's unlikely they'll close block 21/20 to be honest, it's half empty most games and a single isolated issue isn't going to make them do it.
Personally i think the balance is spot on right now, you have the northam for the people that like singing liverpool songs and the old man corner in the chapel for those that like a laugh and watching the game. |

The skirmish was one of the family stand who decided to have a conversation with the away fans about their manners
1. Saints are a good team, i can't remember a saints side this consistent in a long time and i'm starting to think we've got a shot at winning the league
2. The minutes silence was a complete sh*t show, no idea why so many people can't listen to or understand basic instructions
3. Town pre game was heaving, don't know if it was the football, the ships or early xmas shoppers but i've not seen it that busy in a long time
4. QPR's support has to be strangest bunch i've seen at St Mary's in a long time, they went through the lower league song book quicker than Pat goes through the saints one, engaged in absolute pantomime anger, and one mush with a flat cap looked one more line off a heart attack in the away end. Really summed up how two bit modern support is to be honest, and i was surprised given QPR are usually one of the better london clubs
5. Going to games right now, especially at home, is fun again, we're scoring a lot of goals, playing great football and level one is a quality addition (who doesn't love a half time double brandy) |

I’m a big fan of cinematic orchestra, fun fact the head of marketing for ninja tune (and an artist of his own right) was the person who brought thundercat to the uk and signed him for ninja tune’s sister label.
He is also a sotonian who I went to school with and a saints fan.
I actually didn’t know that GP book but I think you’ve just helped me with a Xmas present |

I've been enjoying it, there's a couple of weaker tracks but on the whole it's a strong lp, reminds me a lot of Terry Callier.
The new Moses Boyd dropped today if you've not heard it, wonderful record and one of the best of the year for me.
Have to say i think this year has been an incredibly strong year for new music, so much brilliant stuff dropped, would be really hard to pick a top five |

Isn't Martin Clunes a QPR fan? I"m sure i remember him talking about it on a mid 90s football show.
And i think Michael Gove claimed to be, but i'm always sceptical of any politician saying they support a team |

Not sure how true it is but i remember a story at the time that the people building the "new" baths had gone for an olympic length but not taken into account the tiles, so when the pool was complete it was half a cm short of qualifying for official olympic length.
Could be one of those urban myths as there was a few at the time (anyone remember the razor blades in the flume/whip story that i think every nipper in the city had heard) |

Again that's a very odd post, i think you're letting your insecurity show. At no point did i say you were wrong or shouldn't, i just summed up what it means for the vast majority.
One of our group - who many on here know i'm sure - is a saints fan from essex, his old man is from southampton so that's why he does, doesn't mean won't don't rip him and call him an arsenal fan mind.
My personal view though is i just find it deeply weird if you have no historical link to the place, a lot like Danny Dyer says what's the point if it's not part of you? Or maybe it's just that for me football isn't so much about football, the club is about identity.
I think international football is a good tell of this, people wouldn't suddenly call themselves France, Brazil or Spain fans if they had no connection to those countries, but for some weird reason if you point out that's how it should be at club level too people get ancy |

That's got to be one of the strangest posts i've read on here. The idea saints are a brand name is odd enough by itself, but if you follow that logic than why don't people support Brazil or Spain in international tournaments? Because England is just a brand name.
I've said many times i don't support southampton football club, i come from southampton and it has a football club.
It's the same reason my siblings support saints, their kids support saints, my mum supports saints, my uncle supports saints, my gran supported saints, and my great gran supported saints.
The club represents my history, the place i grew up (and love), and is where my family and friends still live, and ultimately the place i'd love to one day move back too.
The football bit is almost secondary really. |

To be fair I think I’m more likely not to be, one of the other things putting me off is it puts money into that cities economy which I hate doing. I wouldn’t got to a festival there or spend money in their shops as it sustains jobs for them |

Nope I fundamentally disagree with the bubble as it’s unnecessary and criminalises football fans. Besides it’s not the club I hate it’s the city.
That said I’m perfectly accepting I might turn into a complete hypocrite and go when details are announced because the fear of not being their for a win will override my principles |
