Edwards at right back . Dunne and cook really good . Edwards did well but needs to get ‘match’ fit as there was one or two rough moments . Overall really good Not sure if Mbengue will come back in on Friday . Hayden limped off so we might need Edwards in midfield ? Probably not . Field will play . Dembele left on crutches too [Post edited 31 Jan 21:05]

Absolutely delighted with that. Just home now and absolutely chuffed . I thought we played with that desire we had against Leicester. Some nice patterns of play amongst the hard yards . No one had a poor game for me with some impressive and encouraging displays . Back 4 really good against a really good attacking side . Hayden had his best game of the season . Kone big and strong with a better touch and lovely lovely goal . Vale needs to be better with his passing in deeper areas but he is a clever player and really impressed me today. Madsen with another leaders performance really . Starting to drag this team a long at times . Was his biggest critic this time last year but absolutely love the guy. Could well be sold for good money I the summer which is not what I want but it’s a necessity. Hate to finish on a downer , but what is it with some of our fans getting on the younger players back at the moment ? It needs to stop. Last week a guy behind me continued to abuse Morgan until he was subbed and before I said something to him that I would regret. Today , there was another guy doing the same to Kone up behind me in JU today . Honestly , you can have opinions and have your own thoughts on how they play or even if you think they aren’t good enough but shouting abuse to them mid game is unacceptable . We also had from a very early stage today fans continuously moaning and groaning at anything Daniel Bennie did . Give the lad a chance for god sake . I thought Bennie actually grew into the game and actually looked like our fittest player at the end and was continuing to cause them problems . Yes, he lost the player for the goal and he will learn. Unfortunately some of these young lads are learning on the job right now . I was impressed with Bennie and his physicality especially. Some of our lot just need to have a bit of patience . Best bit about today was that Lampard couldn’t celebrate on our pitch. Stick that up ya !!!! |

Can’t believe that match was 15 years ago . Blimey that’s made me feel old. Also can’t believe you did us to win. I wish I shared that optimism/ blind faith 😀but let’s hope the players have the motivation of Leicester at home levels, for some redemption. Not one of those who hate Lampard with any real vitriol but don’t want to see him Celebrating on the pitch again at the end. Come on Rangers ….please!!! |

Absolutely on the money . Sometimes people want to get into the weeds with facts, stats and data for ‘evidence’ when the most glaringly obvious evidence is what’s in front of our own eyes. Fully aware that is the way of the world right now , especially in things like politics , but I can see we are not as fit as pretty much every other team we play . There is no data required. Seems to be the in ‘thing’ and that’s what was being sold to us at the last fans forum , “you are seeing this …but it’s not real . Here, have some stats that ‘proves’ your eyes are lying to you “ Rule number 1 . Don’t treat the core fan base as idiots . And all this isn’t new either. One of the main bullet points for the new training ground was to prevent the ‘current injury crisis of the time’. It worked for about 6 months. What’s happened ? |

Yes agreed. Only saying what the narrative and the discussions were around the fans forum . The fact it’s even an issue really just annoys me. It’s part of every season. We know in August the diary. We know they have to be fit and they are clearly not . As a squad we embarrassingly under cooked in prolonged fitness and that played a part in the mental collapse of our most senior players, never mind the younger ones on Saturday . The fact it’s nearly February and but for a couple of exceptions (Birmingham perhaps) , we still look not up to full fitness is incredible and nothing short of a disgrace really. I think everyone involved in that side of things be it , Head coach , the fitness and data bods…all of them , Williams and even some of the players have to take a long hard look at themselves . As an example , I like Kolli a lot and I know he’s been mucked around more than most this season, so getting ‘match’ fit has been a problem . But if I have to see him stretching his calves and hamstrings out after half an hour of being on the pitch, one more time I think I might scream . He’s another that’s injured way too often for a young player . Strengthen these kids up and get them prepared for 46 games ffs |

Might well be a nominee for post of the season . Just touching on 3 game weeks , of which the narrative really boils my p*ss as it’s being discussed openly by coaching staff and players like it’s something new and unheard of . However , I was reliably informed that our fixture list is taken from a template every season . If you look there are so many repetitions and ‘coincidences’ to the previous season or seasons it makes perfect sense. So don’t expect any change in the ‘away from home twice in a 2 game week’ scenarios anytime soon. |

Good post Did a lot of stuff with the community and loved the trips to the hospitals to give the kids presents. By all accounts a really nice bloke . On the pitch a marauding (slowly) lunatic . But when on form like both Luton games last season he was a real handful . Didn’t happen this season but without his goals last term we could well have gone down . Good luck Michy |

Completely agree. We were reasonably comfortable until that point . The reason the players on the pitch lost the plot …was the red card. [Post edited 26 Jan 13:12]

Yes likewise Steve. I didn’t realise until I caught a clip of it in the Forever R’s bar afterwards . Really poor. However the few left in the bar were all blaming him for the 3rd goal much more . I take slight issue with that . I think he needs to move his feet quicker for sure . But sometimes a goal keeper is just beaten by pure pace . And I think we should be looking at the 3 or 4 hooped shirts standing off of Rathbone and not stopping that source before we look at Walsh . Once again only my opinion as I know others disagree . |

Well done Clive . Even by our standards , that was quite a thing . All a bit Barnstoneworth …the useless…useless b*stards! |

Yes it’s a good point well made . Ultimately though in my opinion , if he stays on the pitch we win the match . |

The Edwards thing is starting to be a bit of a worry . Spoke to a mate yesterday who said “well, he just can’t be ready” I just don’t buy that . You can’t be on the bench for 3 matches and not be ready to play . If we don't see any sign of him on Saturday with Mbengue missing , it will become a real possibility that he wasn’t wanted by JS and he is leaving him out in some sort of of deliberate stubbornness. For the record I think he will play Saturday . He has to, surely ? |

Yes, again fair points about perhaps moving Dunne away from Moore etc . All understandable and I don’t think I would have fancied that either . As for Mbengue only committing one foul …. I think we have all watched football long enough to get a feel for a player pushing his luck . It’s not just fouling . It’s griping with his opponent , it’s sitting on the floor complaining , it’s continuously pushing his luck on how long he takes to take a throw in or where he takes it from and on and on …. Just by the general way he was carrying on yesterday , admittedly mostly first half right in front of us , he seemed to be on thin ice , because refs get fed up with it all . He’s also clearly ‘known’ to officials now . Fans around me yesterday could sense it and they were right . As said previously, he needs to learn and learn quick , because otherwise he can be a really good defender. Not sure about him as a footballer but when he puts his mind to it he’s among the best ‘defenders’ in this division . But he cost us yesterday . I hope some humble pie was eaten whilst Jimmy tore a strip Or 2 off of him . |
