Ultimately its purely a result driven business and I appreciate that and the fact is its clearly working whatever my or your opinions might be, I just think there's more than one way to skin a cat and yes we do hurt teams by passing backwards in my opinion too many times, I just feel with the talented bunch of players at our disposal we're more than capable of blowing teams away playing on the front foot a bit more rather than getting into an arm wrestle down at a level where most other teams are ability wise. I know you're a massive advocate for it but weirdly you can also 'retain the ball' going forwards too you dont have to go 'sideways and backwards' to keep hold of the ball, neither do I expect us all guns blazing gunning forwards all the time at any expense either. A quick forward pass when we turn the ball over in the centre of the pitch to break can catch the opposition out of position just as much as going backwards with 14 passes first, I just felt we didnt mix it up anywhere near enough which lead to a very static predicable performance, thankfully two clinical finishes separated the sides in a game in all honesty Morecambe more than deserved a point from. |

I know exactly why its done but not sure what turning backwards allowing the opposition then re set and mark up ever helps us. I also noticed Morecambe do exactly the same too and its boring as sin to watch, their centre back, keeper and number 8 dropping deep touched the ball more than anyone on the pitch and usually totally unchallenged or pressed to even force a pass, its weird how the games gone from where I sit. |

Was interesting to watch the front players practicing the one touch and finish on both feet in the warm up, both finishes are worthy to win any game after it seemed we may struggle for the win. All match while I appreciate the possession based football we play is clearly working the insistence to turn backwards towards our own goal even when carrying the ball forwards was naturally more of an option is confusing. Credit where its due though the lads always seem to have another gear if needed |

Must have missed that, cheers |

It was interesting to see Hendo pressing like mad too even at his ripe old age, its like hes not missed a game all season how he just slotted in, credit to everyone as that result was enormous and as Jim eluded to post match there would have been good reason with the injuries, new lads coming in etc why things could have looked disjointed, a superb performance all things considered |

Without trying to sound all 'Oldham' wouldn't it be wise to make this game all ticket for away fans, doesnt the away end hold around 1300 or so. Id imagine there will be a decent amount travelling over |

Absolutely, its not like they've got anything else to fund like a new pitch or anything or the cost to no doubt play at someone else's ground too, honestly when will these guys actually put their hand in their pocket |

I agree too its impossible to judge anyone purely off one game either way |

You're probably being a tad harsh on him there TS, it was a shot I wouldn't have been surprised if it had whistled in the net, remember thinking at the time it looked a very good save from pretty close range and at a fair pace. |

Pritchard shows touches of real class from what ive seen, thought EEL was solid too and the depth of talent on the bench is pretty scary for this level, Gilmour is wasted at this level hes FAR too good. |

Cant fault the club in their efforts to fully rectify the problem, can imagine the costs involved too even more so mid season id imagine. Well done to all concerned |

The family lives opposite a relative of mine in Heaton Moor, terribly sad his young twins have now lost both their parents within 2 years almost to the day, RIP Mani music to which my youth was almost built around |

Again im not sure and maybe dreaming this up, but im sure i heard back then the problem wasn't with the actual work initially carried out but more the after care wasn't done to 'spec', maybe this was a corner cut due to the restricted finances at the time perhaps with the mess the club sadly found itself in, again who knows. |

Im sure somebody fairly recently laid a pitch in ridiculous time, something to do with the grass being mixed with a synthetic type grass too, wasn't this around a Dale fixture like against Spurs or someone similar. |

Not too sure TS, but from the photos posted the other day it seems they inflate enough to do work on the pitch whilst the covers are still covering the pitch, maybe they only took them off 'early' today knowing the forecast was fairly dry up until kick off, not sure how late they could leave the covers in place prior to a kick off. |
 | Forum Reply | Update on the pitch at 18:34 15 Nov 2025
The possibility of a genuine chance of promotion falling short due to a fixture backlog also needs to be factored into the cost of hiring suitable pitch protection, first things first though massive respect getting todays game on as the rains been absolutely biblical |

Didn't we get told covering the pitch wasn't the main issue the problem is the water has nowhere to drain too once it runs off the pitch anyway, not sure how this cures the issue as the same amount of water that falls still wont be able to drain away from around the pitch anyway |

Or maybe just shut a business down owing shit loads of millions to local people then just open up another one under the same name, trading at the same address and pretend nothing happened... what's not to love [Post edited 27 Oct 12:00]
