Just waiting for the next fans forum when Parsons says we have to accept that we can't compete at this level [Post edited 2 Feb 23:10]

On a positive note we've moved out some players who weren't contributing much this season and brought in some money I think Peretz is an improvement and I'm pleased to have Bree back in the side Disappointed but not surprised with the striker situation, we're weaker than we were at the start of the window imo and are left with an out of form Archer who's been pretty disappointing, an injury prone Stewart and by the looks of it this Canadian mush who we've just got to hope can contribute something What this all means, who knows? Are we having to be prudent due to being hamstrung by previous poor recruitment? Are the club preparing for a long stay in this division by starting to get some of the bigger wage earners off the books? or are they cutting their losses in preparation for selling the club in the summer? To the tune of Sha La La La Lee by The Small Faces We signed him on loan from Feyenoord La La La Larin No-one was surprised that he never scored La La La Larin yeah La La La Larin |

Just had a look at his stats internationally Yes he's scored 30 goals, 9 appearances this season and 0 goals The majority of those goals were scored against Haiti, Honduras, Bermuda, Dominica, The Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and other powerhouses of world football |

Feyenoord probably have a similar thread going on their forum about Cyle Larin |

Still 24 hours to go before the window "slams shut" so there might be other things going on transfer wise If not this hardly shows the club saying that they still believe that we have a chance of making the play-offs, if they did then there's no way they'd even entertain selling our top scorer and a proven performer at this level for the fee quoted I don't think we have any chance personally, but it's still mathematically possible |

Wouldn't surprise me However, seeing as he was rather unceremoniously dumped and farmed out to West Brom last season I can't imagine that he felt particularly wanted when he came back in the summer I appreciate that my initial response to Larin could be seen as a knee jerk reaction but going by Sports Republics track record of recruiting strikers, it's not without foundation |

This reminds me of when Fonte left in the January window a few years ago We were left scrabbling around in a last minute panic trying to get a replacement in If my memory is correct we tried to sign someone from Swansea who turned us down We ended up bringing in Caceres who hadn't played for months and only made 1 appearance in one of the last games of the season, meaning Claude Puel had to got ultra defensive as he only had Yoshida and Stephens as his first choice central defensive pairing |

Just been watching some footage of him playing for Feyenoord Made Paul Onuachu look like Erling Haaland This was a signing they had to get right imo No pissing about, no smart arse left field signing They got it spectacularly wrong in the summer signing Downs, who I seem to recall them saying he wouldn't be leaving until we had a replacement, and now possibly this I'm hoping this is a smokescreen for someone else but I somewhat doubt it [Post edited 1 Feb 16:12]

Seems rather low to me Whilst I appreciate he's 28, will have 1 year left on his contract in the summer and it seems he wants to leave (his non reaction to Leo's goal last Sunday was pretty telling) to sell him for that fee and this late in the window when prices are inflated, I was expecting the fee to be over 10 Lord knows who'll we'll get in as a replacement, what's Bas Dost up to these days? Just been reading about some Canadian mush we're looking at bringing in from Feyenoord 0 goals in 8 appearances this season Hardly inspiring if true [Post edited 1 Feb 15:53]

On the BBC website it says he's resigned A rarity nowadays so I wouldn't be surprised if he's appointed somewhere else pretty soon |

I was at Millwall when he made his debut for us in league 1 Couldn't believe we'd managed to convince a player of his quality to drop down a division, he just glided through that game Whilst I appreciate that there may have been reasons behind the scenes at the time, I thought it was a real shame that he played no part in the Europa League games. I felt quite sad seeing him doing the warm down on the pitch at the San Siro after the match having taken no part in it [Post edited 1 Feb 12:17]

 | Forum Reply | So what do we think about Peretz? at 12:02 1 Feb 2026
Having watched the extended highlights from yesterdays game it was noticeable to be how vocal he is which is a massive positive It also gives the defenders confidence in him Most goalkeepers have a mistake in them at our level, but if he just makes the saves that you'd expect a professional to make that will be an improvement imo A couple of those saves yesterday were excellent, at the risk of having a go at Bazunu I can't remember many times I left the ground thinking that he'd won us a game or got us a draw through his performance |

I saw him in 2010 when he came back to Woking and played at the leisure centre with all the proceeds going to a local hospice Played a very Jam heavy set with Bruce Foxton coming on for 3 songs Wildwood and 22 Dreams are my two favorites of his solo lps The track he released on the Ghost Box label was a pleasant surprise too, about as far away from dadrock as you can get [Post edited 31 Jan 15:10]

Add in two proper full backs who can actually defend Stoke were there for the taking today as they have loads of injuries, but there's been plenty of games previously like that and we've lost 7 points out of 9 is a very good return |

An away win and a clean sheet Can't ask for more than that right now Very happy UTFS |

My main issue with Sports Republic is their decision making Too many poor decisions that seem to be repeated and at times it feels like we're some kind of experiment that they're conducting to see if their "blue sky thinking" ideas work |
