If you could pick one comestible 12:49 - Mar 16 with 1660 viewsfatpat

OK, neither this, nor my previous post will any awards...or save us from relegation.
However, it is crucially important nonetheless.
If there were one food that you would want to buy when at the ground, what would it be?
For those overseas, what are the more interesting foods you are able to pick up at a sports ground? Pies are the nuts, but are we missing something?
In the UAE, Shawarma is pretty common at the ground...very very good.

Of the more generally available fare, pies definitely are at the top of the list, but to be honest any good quality meat-based savoury snack would do in most cases. Of the less common items encountered, the Abbey Stadium bacon rolls were hard to beat.

I have no requirement to buy any foodstuffs at the ground and looking at it i'm quite content to carry on absaining.

That said, Wessex is absolutely right about the Abbey rolls.

The best pie at a football ground that I have ever had was at Rochdale; superb meat and potato sourced from the local farm and freshly produced.

Does anyone ever eat Prawn Sandwiches at the WHCS?

You can also get Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia and shocking ability to turn orange. Although I think the later is due more to overuse of tanning machine than sexual activity.

Abbey bacon rolls for me but the proper beef and ale pies at Gillingham are a very close second.

Outside of Priestfield, I also fondly remember the chunks of hot sausage, Yorkshire pudding and roast potato free bar snacks at the away fan pub (name escapes me) - they didn't last long!

Lobster?
you come in 'ere, givin' it all that?? (ref: the joke about the lobster that got banned from the pub)

A lobster walks into a bar one evening & asks the barman for a pint,
The barman says "i'm not serving you",
"Why not" asks the lobster
Cos everynight you come in here giving it all that - (hold both arms up hands opening & shutting your hands - imitating a lobster/a chopsy so & so)

I think the burgers and pies at the WHCS, they are so good. Last time over there was also that food stand/van .. Haven't eaten from there yet. The burgers at the stad are excellent. Very high end. They don't taste bland. As good as McDonalds or Burger King. A lovely surprise since the first time I had one years ago.

Stateside, DC United (footy), burgers, fries, chicken, bbq, nachos, crisps with chili (beans and cheese).. The Washington Nationals baseball team has around 24 options, including Maryland crab cakes. Prawn sandwiches? We don't do that here. "Gourmet" hotdogs with relish, bangers with sauerkraut, buffalo chicken wings. And we can sit together, no separate sections for away fans.

Meaning, when Portland, Seattle, New York or Philadelphia fans come here to DC. It's really cool. Pockets of fans within a section and DC supporters give them no grief. No stewards needed to separate them. Footy, NFL, baseball, ice hockey... Passionate away fans but no trouble.

"Waiter. I'll have the crocodile sandwich...and make it snappy"

Tastes just like chicken, as does ostrich and kangaroo. Or that is what people say when they've never tried it. Had all three and none resembled chicken. Must try horse next time I go to France.

Maryland Crab Cakes...now that is something worth trying at a football match.
Gourmet Food Truck at WHCS...bring it on

As for the pies...I have always overheard other Col Utd fans swearing by the pies at Rochdale.

I also spend a lot of time in South Africa as that's where my wife is from. At the rugby the number of people that bring in their own gigantic bags of biltong...such a brilliant complement to a few pints.

A scallop fell in love with a clam...and against everyone 's advice they got married. and six short months later sure enough they filed for divorce and went their separate ways. their problem was obvious to anyone who knew them...

...they were just two shellfish.

Thank you very much... I'll be here all season!

A bloke turns up at a fancy dress party wearing nothing but his undercrackers.

"What have you come as?" someone enquires.

"Premature ejaculation...I've come in me pants"

I'll get me coat.

That one made me laugh out loud!

So this bloke walks into a dockside pub in Portsmouth, treads straight into a dog turd on the floor, and bam - goes arse over tit on the floor, right into the mess.

Picks himself up, cleans himself down as best he can, and retires to the bar for a much needed drink.

5 minutes later, the biggest f'cking docker you've ever seen strolls in, treads in the now spread out dog mess, and does exactly the same.

"Funny, I just did that..."
