Week 26 Results

NEWCASTLE 0 NORWICH 0

Newcastle are now unbeaten in their last four League games after this bore draw. Norwich have now failed to score in eight different Premier League away games this season. Nobody got this spot-on, but 5 did have the outcome. 23 predicted a win for Newcastle with 12 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

WEST HAM 3 BRIGHTON 3
West Ham let slip a two-goal lead to draw with their fellow Premier League strugglers. West Ham have beaten 46 of the 48 opponents they have faced in the Premier League, with Brighton and Swindon being the only exceptions. Again nobody had this spot-on, though 6 did get the outcome.

BIRMINGHAM 2 NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1
Birmingham had only got 2 points from their previous 7 home games, but they came from behind to end Forest's seven match unbeaten run. Well done to burnsieespana for being the only one to get this spot-on, and only 2 more had the outcome. 22 predicted a win for Forest.

PRESTON 1 SWANSEA 1
A point each that doesn't help either teams play-off chances. Just the 2 had this spot-on, and another 1 got the outcome. 22 predicted a Preston victory.

QPR 0 BRISTOL CITY 1
Famara Diedhiou's diving header was enough for Bristol City to win their fourth game in a row. 5 got this spot-on, and a further 7 had the outcome.

IPSWICH 1 PETERBOROUGH 4
Sammie Szmodics hit a brace as Peterborough leapfrogged Ipswich into third place in League One following this comfortable win. Excellent from MattFlat in having this spot-on, in what is the top prediction of the season so far. There were 9 who got the outcome.

OXFORD UNITED 2 BLACKPOOL 1
Oxford came from behind to win and give their League One promotion hopes a boost. 6 got this spot-on, and a further 16 had the outcome.

SOUTHEND 2 LINCOLN 1
Southend get a 96th minute winner to give them their first home win this season. Only 2 had this spot-on, and 2 also got the outcome.

OLDHAM 3 BRADFORD CITY 0
Superb Oldham swept aside a poor Bradford City side as the Bantams dropped out of the League Two play-off places. Nobody got this spot-on, but 6 did have the outcome.

PORT VALE 1 SALFORD 1
Tom Elliott scored his first league goal for Salford as they held Vale to a draw. 6 had this spot-on, and 1 more got the outcome. 19 predicted a win for Vale.

The 10 game weeks are obviously the ones where the big scores to make a difference are made. But after a number of unpredictable results - not for the first time this season - this one turned out to be a disappointing one overall, and the total of 124 points gave us the worst 10 game week of the season so far. Even though it was a famine week for a number of members, with the Oxford 2-1 saving them from from firing a blank, two members did get three 3 pointers to have them feasting at the top table. They were Colukev who had that Oxford 2-1 and the 1-1 draws at Preston and Port Vale spot-on, and two outcomes made him the weeks top scorer with a brilliant 11 points. Just missing out on that honour was burnsieespana who made a good decision to go 2-1 all games to give an excellent 10 points. Four members did well to get two 3 pointers. They were wessex_exile and Stupid_Gooner who both had the Bristol City 1-0 and the Port Vale 1-1, Lewis_1 who got the wins for Bristol City and Southend, and finally gerry_us who had the 1-1 draws at Preston and Port Vale.

In the Premier At the top having the Bristol City 1-0 spot-on helped noah4x4 to increase his lead by another point. Sector4 and sevebalo both got the Oxford 2-1 spot-on to remain in the other Charity Shield spots. Up three places is thrillseeker, as he takes advantage of the three directly above him all relying on the Oxford 2-1 to give them an outcome to save them from firing blanks. The real activity in this division has been happening at the bottom recently, and that continued in a big way this week, with gerry_us not only clearing the 16 point deficit to safety that was there only four weeks ago, but has gone a step further by getting out of the relegation zone. Colukev has also given himself a big chance of escaping as his top scoring effort was his second double-figure score in the last three weeks. That is the sort of good form he regularly showed when he was in Division One. With those two doing so well recently the whole division bar noah4x4 are suddenly at the risk of being relegated. in fact Sector4 in second is nearer to being relegated than winning the title.

In Division One Just outcomes for the top two, but Blue4U2 still holds a healthy 8 point lead over Daniel despite it being reduced by a point. Blueeagle was another to benefit this week from having the Oxford 2-1 spot-on, and he got 2 points nearer to the automatic spots. The play-off places remain the same but Lewis_1 swaps places with basher2010 after his decent week. A decent week for wessex_exile moves him up a place, and within 2 points of the play-offs. Further down the league burnsieespana finally showed the sort of form that had finishing as runner-up in the Premier only three seasons ago, and kept him with a squeak of making the play-offs. Last season unitedwhites had a storming second-half that took into the play-offs. His six outcomes this week means only Daniel has more of them than him in both divisions, but his 3 pointer total is lower than anybody, and that it what is holding him back from a repeat performance this season.

THE TABLES (188 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
