I’ve been a Swansea fan for 50 years and this season is akin to the lower leagues back in the late 70s. We need a new manager and a new direction, one that’s unconnected to the smoke screen of percentage football stats. There’s nothing wrong in being direct as long as it’s carried out with pace, accuracy and intelligence. Today’s team are by and large bereft of ideas, identity and freedom of thought. We have the historical ability to identify managers that can develop a team into a cohesive force, now is the time to rediscover that formula....the hurdle is the owners that have failed to forge a link to the club, community and its history. |  | | |  |

They hit on four gems - Martinez, Rodgers, Laudrup and Potter - and four turkeys - Sousa, Bradley, Guidolin and Clement. I am not going to call the other two because it’ll only take this thread down a rabbit hole.
Birch was a decent football professional, capable of identifying a manager who fitted our needs who was in - relatively - plain sight. But he wasn’t a maverick who came up with out-of-the-box ideas like Bielsa years before any other UK team would go for him.
Winter doesn’t inspire me at all. Sorry.
If we are going to break the mould again, as I agree we need to, maybe we need to bring Jenkins and Martin back into the operation in a more executive role. Assuming that they still have the hunger required. |  |

Got to disagree with your assessment of Sousa and Guidolin - they weren’t turkeys.
Sousa built on Martinez footballing ethos, he tightened up the defence and with better strikers could have pushed on. Rodgers was the beneficiary of Sousa’s time in the hot seat.
Guidolin stopped the rot and did a decent job, in my opinion he was moved so that the Swans could develop their commercial profile in the US. If Bradley had turned up trumps, then it would have been a huge coup, but it didn’t work out. | | | |

And Guidolin? He is a master at avoiding relegation. Has little constructive to offer. I know people say he was unlucky that Llorente was not fit in the early part of the season but if you rely on one player to perform in the Premier League, good luck with that. | |

We’ve both got different takes on things, but I respect your opinion.
Guidolin was an accomplished coach in Italy and delivered numerous teams top half finishes in Serie A. He also coached a number of clubs to promotion from Serie B to Serie A and secured Champions League and UEFA Cup football at a couple of his clubs, he also won the Serie A Coach of the Season award. | | | |

They sold their shares and took no money out. The share were theirs and now belong to US people. The shares are piece of paper with index numbers on representing the % ownership of the club and they were transferred. US people bought their shares off them.
The Trust did not transfer their shares to anyone and have no cash. It was their choice. They still own their pieces of paper with index number on.
No one wants to buy them any more. The value of their shares goes up and down. They will be in the money big time if the club gets back to the Premier league. At least double what Jenkins got. That is why Jenkins and Morgans still opt to hold shares.
Mr Morgan has helped to club by sponsoring the stadium. There has been no sponsorship for years. I suspect he will stand down if anyone else wants to take over. This is because he has not sold the club down the river but continued to support it. He also sponsors the team shorts. What a good friend of the club.
The Trust on the other hand did a great thing 20 years ago and then lost its way. They were not prepared for change and resented people moving on after 14 years of total success. They played to the crowd and south Wales Socialist and Sunday school biblical rhetoric.
Selling shares is immoral to them as it is to the Taliban and the mullahs of Iran. Even today with the energy crisis "shareholders" are vilified.
Swansea city never made profit under Jenkins and Morgan and they only paid shareholder dividends once. All money was reinvested in to infrastructure the academy and players. The facilities were light years ahead of Hammam and Tan.
So there you have it. I am sure they would consider buying back the pieces of paper with index number on them at the prevailing market price. Shares values can go up and down.

Thinking back is not always healthy but we all do so.
Right now,Martin is far and away the worst we have ever had.Its probably an over-reaction but he has precided over the biggest slump for many years not just results but the way fans expectations have been manipulated. It turns my stomach. Fans are starting to walk away and the spirit is being eroded.

100% agree with your assessment of Sousa. It was boring football, but we were hard to beat, Rodgers certainly benefitted from the improvements made in defence from his reign. | | | |

Ive said this previously,I make no apologies for repeating I believe Martin is toxic to the club and is damaging grass roots fans as is obvious on here. Fans are shattered by it all. It is ,I accept,barely believable we were premier league not that long ago and tipped to return. Indeed our owners aid their aim was to return.
