Allegedly we have made a bid for Crawley's y Tom Nichols according to the Cumberland News.
Anybody any idea how many loan players will return to parent clubs in January?

Days of Sears and Nouble must be numbered and guess could well go before window shuts.
Heard Eastman is injured.
Judge surely will never play for us again.
Most if not all the loans have now gone back to parent clubs.

You would think so. I heard we have 14 players out of contract this summer. I'm not sure too many of them will be getting new ones. I think Appiah is the only loan signing remaining, not including the new lad from Orient.

O'Hara isn't on loan, we signed him on a one year deal last summer.

I appreciate we haven’t seen them play yet but I confess to being pleasantly surprised by the signings made so far and the other activity with loanees. Five experienced players incoming on decent length deals should ensure far greater intent to avoid relegation than lots of young loanees who have little attachment to the club.

Interesting that the chairman seems willing to spend money in this transfer window. Perhaps he trusts Embleton and Hadjalko to spend it more wisely than others I could mention.

Still suffering from shock. What is happening suddenly we are signing players with a reasonable pedigree. Good to see the backing from the chairman and finally I actually look forward to the next game instead of dread. I haven't been to a match in a while mainly because I didn't want to waste good money. That will change shortly. I want to see properly the changes created by MB.

Oops must have missed that one !
JY looks like a great signing,as are the other 5 or 6 lost count now

Looks similar to the furlow situation from the other season. Think we can all guess seven players not to be retained come the end of this season, so by signing next season players early, gives the future non retained time to talk to other clubs and reassess their own future careers.
We need to clear the books of to many loanees, which has blocked the pathway of our own Academy players from progressing / developing to the first team .

I believe the following to be out of contract in the summer:

Judge
Smith
Chambers
Skuse
Sears
Huws
Nouble
Eastman
O'Hara
Hannant
Ashley
Chilvers
Kazeem
Clampin
Marshall-Miranda

How many of them will be offered new deals?

You would hope Chilvers, Kazeem and Miranda have already been offered new deals as could see Chilvers, in particular, orherwise moving on as a free agent

Yes, you would hope so. I really wouldn't want to lose Chilvers, especially for nothing, the other two have yet to really establish themselves but definitely have potential.

I'd be tempted to give Skuse another year as I think he's actually been pretty decent for us and is a good player for the younger pro's to be around.

I agree on Skuse, I'd keep him for at least another season. His football brain and vision more than compensate for his advancing years (as a footballer, he's still a spring chicken as far as I'm concerned), and he's clearly established as a bit of a leader/ mentor off the pitch. I was pleased to hear what Matt B said in the (I think) post-Swindon interview about how Skuse had lead the half-time team talk in the dressing room, and had the team focused on what Matt was going to talk about even before he had arrived in the dressing room to talk about it.

Maybe he should be the Captain on the pitch with Smith as club captain?

Having read the latest updates from MB my principal concern is that that the word on Danny Johnson has gone deathly quiet.

Three defenders/midfielders but the age old problem of no new striker.

Possible Darlington signing on the horizon but competition from Hartlepool and Cambridge.

I remain optimistic but positive news would be ideal.

Danny Johnson move might still be alive Durham?

Someone called Macca Bonne has just left QPR having had his contract cancelled.

Now 27.

What does the team think?

Please can we sign Danny Johnson from Mansfield and stop all this nonsense bringing in inexperienced or National League players.

Regarding Bonne don't think I've ever seen him play more than 8 minutes in a game.

Bonne to Charlton confirmed:

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/64253042

Bonne previously played for the Addicks between August 2019 and September 2020, scoring 11 goals in 40 appearances before his switch to QPR.

"This club changed my life. I came from playing non-league to the Championship," he told the Charlton website.

"I am back here now to pick up from where I left off - scoring goals, making people and myself happy in football and that is very important."

The latest on twitter.

Colchester United look to to compete the signing of Sligo Rovers striker Aidan Keenan for an undisclosed fee. Tranmere Rovers were interested in the Irishman. He’s expected to sign a 2 and a half year deal.

Mick sounds interesting though I know nothing about Mr Keena.

But he does wear the Number 9 shirt and is 23 years of age and 5ft 11 ins tall.

Lots of clubs including Tranmere are in for this guy Keena, it has been said Sligo don’t want to lose him and have already turned down a bid from Tranmere. No doubt he will go to the highest bidder if he leaves at all, he is contracted until mid 2024.

After the previous suggestions about DJ which now looks like a busted flush, there at least is official comment about Keena.

We still need a striker and maybe he could be the one.

We wait out for confirmation.

The latest strong rumour is we are about to sign Tom Hopper, a striker, and current captain, at Lincoln.
