Strangely, Mr McCarthy has never mentioned the steam rising up at Loftus Rd.

Apart from the train journey home I never minded Upton Park, old fashioned English football ground same as say Villa Park or Goodison even Anfield, grounds In the heart of the community and not on some out of town trading estate.
In fact Upton Park had some bloody good cafes In the location.

Used to be a decent away day. Always liked the Denmark in East Ham or the Black Lion in Plaistow. Up there with Reading for me now in terms of away games that are much, much worse than they should be on paper. Athletics stadium next to a shopping centre, and takes half a week to get in and out. I'd be pretty upset about it all if I was a West Ham fan.

Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts

Fk ‘em.
They belly-ached for years that Upton Park was too small ‘cos they’re so massive and demanded a new stadium.
Well, they got one now.

I happened to watch this game. Do we call it a shellacking, a demolition or perhaps a walloping? Arsenal didn't need to get out of 2nd gear. Maybe a humiliation would be better?

Danny Baker on his Twitter feed a year ago had a thread about this. He disagreed with a report of a game about a thrashing being a three goal defeat. He reckoned it started with a five goal defeat and upwards.

Edit: Just seen Brian's post above.

This Twitter site I follow has posted the programme for the FA Youth Cup quarter final 43 years ago and what does it mention twice?
Saturday 28th February- No match at Upton Park
Saturday 14th March - No match at Upton Park

Interesting seeing the Rangers lineup. Three players who went on to be first team regulars. Gary Waddock's cousin playing as well and also my old schoolboys and youth football adversary Alan Comfort.

Don't understand not liking West Ham, they're a proper London team with a decent following home and away. Have met loads of West Ham over they years and they've always come across as decent fans who have nothing against QPR.

There are literally 50 or 60 clubs I'd hate before West Ham.

Wow! I was in the same district side as no:7 - David Gregory. A very good player.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?
