1. He left Arsenal just as the Prem started. 
2. Nobody likes a smart Alec. 
3. He went to Southampton, who were one of the original Prem teams, so yes I think he did play in the Prem. 
4. I’ve just realised he played more than 100 times for us so it can’t be him.

I was going to go for Grainger but Soccerbase didn't have games for him prior to 1992.

I did learn though that in his final game he came on as a first half substitute against Manchester United at St. Andrews, scored and then went off at half time due to injury and never played again.
His son Charlie is a goalkeeper who played for Orient and now for non-league Hastings United. | |
