Former U's 13:45 - Feb 26 with 54685 viewsRSCOSWORTH

We love our former U's, well most of them anyway, so thought I'd start a thread where we can keep up with them.

Thought I'd kick things off with a happier moment for Matt Jay in Essex as he scored a long ranger against Chelmsford at the weekend. It wasn't a joyous return though as Torquay shipped two late goals to lose 3-2 after leading 2-0.

Jay also got the equaliser away at Weston-super-Mare last night. Hopefully he's starting to enjoy his football again.

From ninth tier to World Cup? Kone's incredible rise:

I can completely understand why not, given the right to work investments that would have been required, but I wish we’d taken a punt on Kone at the time. Heyho.

Pleased for him. Love this quote - "You know what, it's very exciting, everyone says to me 'are you playing Salah?', 'are you playing Marmoush?'. At the end of the day I'm going over there to win a game and they'll be on the same pitch as me."

Keeping with the Afcon theme Junior was originally credited with the Cameroon equaliser against the Ivory Coast but it's since been changed to an own goal.

Cameroon will face hosts Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) after goals from Junior Tchamadeu and Christian Kofane gave them a 2-1 win over a South Africa side led by their former coach Hugo Broos.

After a bright start from the South Africans, it was a stroke of luck which helped set up Stoke City right-back Tchamadeu for the opening goal in the 34th minute.

When a corner was half-cleared, Carlos Baleba's shot played pinball inside the penalty area, first striking Bafana Bafana midfielder Nkosinathi Sibisi and then also Indomitable Lions defender Samuel Kotto before dropping kindly for Tchamadeu to tuck home from close range, with the goal confirmed following a long video assistant referee (VAR) check for offside.

Played the full 90 minutes in Fleetwood's 1-2 defeat at home to Cambridge.

Funny thing is, after Iandolo's injury, Powell would probably be playing for us against Fleetwood Town this weekend!

I thought Terry had a good game anyway, but if Bishop is back fit, it could be Hunt or KVY that moves to left back with the other on the right with Terry back to the bench.

I'm surprised Nottingham Forest have let him go tbh, but a good signing for Oxford. I assume they must have parted with a significant amount of cash to get him though. Odd to think that he might be playing against us next season.
