Where are people sitting next season? 13:20 - Mar 16 with 1236 viewsJoiedevivre

I'm pondering whether to get a Season Depression.

Are people staying in the Northam? Thinking of moving to the Chapel next to the skates? Itchen North for nostalgia and to outsing the Tonkas and Seals?

I may join you (probably not).

If the club would allow fans to stand in something that wasn’t the Northam or the away end, I would move there in a heartbeat.

I miss the Itchen North a huge amount, but looking over there it all looks a bit lifeless.

The Northam has been horrendous.

I am just hoping that relegation will rid it of a lot of the muppets who sing “Championship again Ole Ole Ole” “Chapelallezshit” and clap the team off when they have been absolute shite. As happened again yesterday.

The Kingsland and Chapel are yet to be fully blessed by atmosphere.

Perhaps a Kingsland, much like the old East (?), could be in favour with the minorities. I use minorities as what the masses want is inevitably going to turn to s***. The beauty of this is we customise our future without the club. Padded seats and a half way line view could be in our hands, especially useful for half time watches of Netflix on one's phone.

You’re right about Itchen North, it’s like an old people’s home in block 2. I couldn’t even muster the energy to stand up when we scored and that stupid song comes on and the zombies start doing the dance I looked at the floor, even my 11 year old son has stopped zombieng.

Have the Club enforced sitting in the Kingsland North blocks?

If not, that could be an option, I guess…..

No they haven't enforced sitting in the Kingsland north. I stand all game, but I am in the back row. A few stand in front but not many. I am moving over to the Chapel next season. In the Kingsland, you can't see the away fans. I want the banter with away fans next season amd ofcourse in the big Derby game, I want to be able to see the goings on.

Everyone’s gonna go down the chapel and the red wall will be full of granny's sat down in cheaper seats, great plan Mr Parsons

We're moving to the Chapel, had enough of the god awful "bantz" in the Northam Wall, as far as failures go from Sport Republic the moving of the away fans is as bad as the choice of managers.

I don't know. I think shoving away fans in the corner instead of them being behind the Northam was a good move, but it's lost something with the interaction between the Itchen North being lost and coupled with a season to forget where there's been literally nothing to cheer. As for the Bantz. I moved to block 41 from the Itchen. It's not been too bad where I am, one thing I am acutely aware of is the younger bell ends. I guess that is just a generational thing.

The weird obsession with singing about a players cock was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

I can ignore the Allez Allez nonsense, and i'm sort of resigned to the constant dirge of songs about pompey, but when the majority of the fans are singing about a players penis it's crossed over from being annoying to outright weird and embarrassing.

And i think that's what most of my group have decided too, it's just not enjoyable in the slightest and a complete failure in what it's tried to do. So the best thing we can do is move.

You were willing it to be a failure from day 1 FT. Out of interest and not as a dig, how many do you reckon will migrate to the Chapel? Enough for it to have some sort of impact/engagement situation the away fans?

Not sure i was willing it to fail, i just thought it was a poorly executed idea. I knew before i moved i'd hate most of the people around me as i tend to feel that way about our away support.

My complaint has always been that there's no choice, they've effectively decided that everyone who wants to stand/make noise is the same and can be lumped in the same place.

As for how many are moving I have no idea, all i know is those i know who pretty much to a man hate the new northam wall.

It does seem like - on social media at least - that we're not alone in this and a fair few folk seem to be thinking the same thing.

Whether or not they'll follow through is a different question. Especially as i think the club will make a point of cracking down on people standing in the chapel

I think a fair few will move. For me, it's not about being near the away fans; I just can't be surrounded by the complete gimps that occupy the Wall any longer.

I've only got myself to blame for getting conned into moving there in the first place. I knew it'd be shit, but got sucked in by the early bird pricing, being able to stand and the threat of sizeable price increases in all other parts of the ground. I did however underestimate just how much I'd hate it in there, but that's probably been magnified by what's been served up on the pitch tbf.

In the same vein, I don't want to have to sit in silence, get told off if I stand at certain points of the game or be worried about who's around me if I swear. You wouldn't think that'd be too much to ask for, but our fanbase largely seems to be made up with those 2 extremes.

Pretty much identical to my experience too, really think the club dropped a massive b*llock by not having two areas for people to choose from because what we've got now is next to unbearable and makes me hate going to games

We stand in the Kingsland when we score, then revert back to norm c/w blanket to put over our knees in the winter months ...............

FWIW the "Red Wall" looks nothing like a red wall in comparison to Dortmunds yellow one which the club were I guess trying to emulate. There also appears to be a lot more noise from the away support now than our own though obviously we sit a lot closer to them now and they normally have a lot more to sing about

I used to enjoy watching the banter between Itchen North / Mortham with the way fans in the middle not knowing which way to look or throw abuse at

It's also a pi55er walking through/alongside joyous away fans after the game now to their coaches making our way home unless I want to walk right around the stadium. No thanks
