Parkinson like Warnock is simply a lower league flat track bully of a manager....

He's learnt to deflect from his own shortcomings by blaming Galbraith's tackle for the defeat last night when in fact he could have approached the game better tactically...

If the Hollywood FC owners want PL then he's already toast.

F**k him...and no coincidence Colin W@nker slagged off Matos in the press before a ball was even kicked - these dinosaurs are running scared of the new philosophies and approaches of C21st football coaching...

They are threatened by it...because their methods are old. predictable and sheehite and they cannot adapt...

I’m still convinced Burgess has scored four own goals this season.

I said to my mate last night he looks like a ‘Carmarthenshire League’ centre half so heavy footed and cumbersome 😩

Poll: Why is this site so quiet these days ?

Getting crosses in to Vipotnik isn’t his game. Most centre backs will have the beating of him in the air.

We need that little bit more creativity in the final third and players closer to him to stop him being double marked. We need him with the ball at his feet in and around the edge of the area with enough time and space to get shots away.

Crosses such as Widell's which Vipotnik dispatched, on the floor in behind the defence isn't Vipotni's game? We have been outdone by such balls which have kept Burgess goal scoring tally high.

Which game was that? The one against Forest?

When 90% of a strikers goals are from shots outside, or near the edge, of the penalty box, that’s his game.

That would be the goal two games ago away against Stoke, this season Vipotnik has also got across the front post in the six yard box to head home a goal and had one from a tight angle also in the box from a through ball, another to his feet at the penalty spot where he had one touch turned and shot.
Goals often come from getting balls quickly into the box with good movement which catches defend out or puts them in a awkward situation, often it is about the understanding within the team, players knowing where the best place to put the ball to keep pressure on the opposition while suiting the players skills to score goals.
The putting in of slow lofted crosses smacks of desperation but if a team as a whole starts to feel the pressure then anything could and does happen as in the Wrexham game and as has happened in a number against us, obviously quick whipped in balls into the box are preferable as most well organised defences can cope with slowly delivered crosses.

If you're asking him to consistently win aerial battles then he's no Llorente. But then again, crosses don't all have to be at head height, as Widell proved against Stoke. Or Ronald did on Friday.

Vipotnik is doing tremendously well this season. I don't know why there's still a habit in some areas for downplaying that (I've seen him described elsewhere as "barely capable"), but in reality he's scoring wide variety of goals in a wide variety of situations and we'd be screwed without him.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

It’s not downplaying it. We should be aiming to play to his strengths and there’s some kind of weird perception that he thrives on crosses.

He can’t do what Llorente did and Llorente couldn’t do what Vipotnik does. I wouldn’t want us whipping balls in for Vipotnik to battle with defenders or try to nip across them at the front post any more than I’d want us trying to create Llorente shooting opportunities five yards outside the box.

The more he’s shooting, the better he’ll do. He’s not a penalty box striker.

He has come on leaps and bounds from his original form at the club, is that down to better service, his desire to improve or better team work to getting him into position that he can be more effective. Last season his aerial challenges for the high ball were woefully bad, that has changed at the very least he is making life harder for good centrehalves and add both Ronald's and Inoussa's as outlets for the aerial balls we seem to be able to get and keep further up the pitch and quicker add Widell movement and skills, which still need improving, we look a handful for defences.

We are creating spaces for playing on the ground by being competitive in more facets of the game, hope that continues to improve, especially cutting out the error mistimed or unnoticed run, poor passing and getting caught with the balls at our feet with no options available.

For Vipotnik we need to play to feet preferably quickly more than just whipping in an early high cross, although he is big and powerful he is better with his feet than his head in my opinion.

I'm going through his goals for the season on YouTube, and I have to be honest, most of them are inside the box with more than a few as a result of crosses.

Ok, if you’re talking passes played to his feet that give him a clear shooting opportunity, then I agree. That’s his strength. That one came from out wide, he had two other similar (though not with as much time) opportunities in the first half of that game that came centrally. Cullen put him through in the first few minutes and he played a kind of one two with Eom, where Vipotnik basically created the chance himself and used Eom as a pivot to put him in.

Chances like the Stoke one will be few and far between. I’m not sure who played Widdell down the line, but it was a fantastic pass from deep in our own half that split their defence perfectly. Widdells pass was also perfect.

That takes a very open defence and two brilliant passes. Great goal, but we won’t score many like that.

It’s possibly interpreting it in different ways. For me, crosses are the type of ball Llorente thrived on. Whipped in with pace for him to attack.

If we’re counting the ball from Ronald on Friday, which came in from the wing, but was played to feet and he took two touches of before scoring with his third, I wouldn’t interpret that as a cross, but fair enough if other people do.

As far as I’m concerned, we just need to get him the ball in shooting range and get teammates around him so he’s harder to double mark. Whether it comes from the wing or through the middle, is immaterial. He needs the ball at his feet with space to get a shot off.
