I was just coming on here to ask whether we thought we'd ripped Everton off of £40m, and for the 10 minutes hes been on so far and that missed chance just now (and we're knocking AA!!), we definitely did!

Far too soon to pass judgement. He's 19. A few sub appearances are what you'd expect in the Premier League, at his age. Who knows what he'll be worth in the future?

Special talent but lots to learn before he's an effective PL player. As already noted above, only time will tell. 40 million was good business...if only SR used it effectively.

I think this is a lot of Everton fans take on it too. Moyes is known to hold players back and ease them in and talked about it on the week, he did the same with Baines, Jagielka and Lescott. Bought them all, but didn’t play them for months whilst they settled in.

He’s done the same with Aznou, Rolfe and Dibling.

It’s not helped Dibling Everton having no decent full backs, an area where they need to prioritise next.

40 million does seem a lot and maybe Everton have been had off, but time will tell. This time last season he was playing on a team on six points under the guidance of Russell Martin. Everton aren’t the finished article by a long way, but it’s a good environment for him to develop and hopefully reach his potential.

Sorry to say I think he will fail at Everton and end up somewhere like Forest or a Burnley type club. He has some skills but no real final product and I dont think he will grow to be one of the best later in his career sadly.

He looks a shadow of the player that broke into the saints team last year.

Spot on Dirk. As I predicted when I first saw him play he’ll be a star one day for someone . It might take 2/3 years even longer perhaps but he’ll get there. You can lose your attitude, fitness etc but you don’t lose your ability especially at his age and he’s got it in abundance.

If he was an 19 year old lad from Everton’s academy lashed on chasing the game as was last night, people would have been pleased with his contribution.

I think he will come good as Everton settle down and they have more, better players particularly at full back where Everton have been weak all season thus he hasn’t been getting as many games.

No good having quality if you don't have good attitude & fitness.
TB undoubtedly has ability but he must apply himself better & work harder.
A few years ago gifted players could get away with not being 100% fit.
But the game has changed & now even the most gifted players can't get by if they are not full committed & fit.
They are athletes now unlike many past players.

He’s only Young he’ll be fine, he hasn’t been given a good run of games at Everton yet .

For every teenager success story there are at least as many disasters and £40m was one helluva lot to pay for potential, and If he really was that good I cannot help but think he would have forced his way into the team by now.
When he first came on for us I remember a couple of dazzling silky runs. But then he went off the boil, just as all the £100m valuations started to be bandied about. Because like a lot of youngsters, he is simply too lightweight to be successful and for forever being bundled off the ball. Maybe when/if he puts on a bit of muscle he will get better. But personally I’m not holding my breath,,,

Personally, I never thought he was anything out of the ordinary.

He definately has skill but I never thought he delivered particularly and he definately wasn't a team player. Just my opinion

Unfortunately for Dibling, both wide roles and been taken by Grealish and Ndiaye who are two of Everton’s best players. He did play very well in two games over Christmas against Burnley and Forest but then was poor in a very poor performance against Brentford.

He will get game time from now until the end of the season, but this Everton team is very much a work in progress and he is still a very young player.

You’re probably right.

The glass ceiling of the PL with the introduction of changes to the CL to give the snidey few even more revenue and the application of PSR to only a few means for most clubs the hope is to have at least one good season now and then.

Look at Palace, it’s fantastic what they’ve achieved and now they are being dismantled. Villa are doing incredible to keep in touch with the snides largely down to Emery being an incredible manager. But it is becoming more and more tedious.

Saints more than most have been dismantled over the years but you’re right Toffee it is very tedious. I’m amazed we have been getting nearly 30 k every week but I can see the crowds becoming more sparse now with these owners showing no ambition whatsoever. A few years in the championship will show who the diehards are and we will be in the championship a few years with these owners no doubt about that .It happened to Forest and Leeds .

Agreed, it's got worse and worse. I actually feel sorry for Palace, Forest and Bournemouth being picked apart. I don't know if you can blame the clubs, the players for wanting more or what, but football favours the few "big" clubs more than ever now.
