Unlucky for some ( one ). 07:51 - Oct 18 with 510 viewsbwildered

Numbers have been confirmed for the first round FA Cup draw.
The U’s allocated ball number 13. Strangely no representation of any Essex non league team.
It’s time for a up for the cup run has ball no 77 does not represent are Essex Trophy holders, but their victors Berkhampsted. Nearest local side would be Hornchurch, but several sides we have been drawn with previously being Oxford City, Dover, Rushden .
A live televised game would invariably mean a tricky away fixture or Leicester .

Bar York, I've done every ground in Leagues One and Two, so there's not a game I'm hoping for. I expect any game against a league team is not going to draw in a crowd. Likewise a non-league team at home. A non-league team away is dangerous, so I guess I just want anything that'll boost our chances of being in the draw for the Second Round.

Chorley would be interesting as our most successful ex Us boss and current Hollywood FC boss Parky was born there...

50 years ago I used to play county rugby at Sixways, now home to Worcester City FC. It then had similar facilities and ambience to Colchester RFC.

However, Sixways is now a magnificent stadium, originally developed for Premiership Worcester Warriors RFC that went bust in 2022, but now revived as an RFU Championship team. Worcester City got lucky and now play in what is arguably (IMHO) the best non-league ground in the country.

Well worth a visit in the unlikely event of a replay…….

Col U have never played Chorley FC

However, U’s versus Worcester City was a regular fixture in the 1930s and 1940s in the Southern League but they have not met for 76 years.

A replay would be a very unlikely event indeed, given it'll be extra time and straight to penalties if needed.

Seventh tier Worcester City play at home to sixth tier Chorley in their replay tonight.

Worcester's best run in the FA Cup came in the 1958–59 season, when in the Southern League. In the first round they beat Chelmsford City in a replay and then Millwall 5–2 in the second round. In the third round they were drawn against Liverpool. A 2–1 win saw them qualify for the fourth round against Sheffield United. They were defeated 2–0 in front of a record home attendance of 17,042 at St George's Lane.

Chorley's best run in the FA Cup came in the 2020/21 season. In the first round, as a sixth-tier club they defeated League One Wigan Athletic. In the second round, they beat another League One side, Peterborough United. Then in the third round they defeated Championship side Derby County with a 2–0 victory and was drawn to face Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers at home in the fourth round, which subsequently saw their FA Cup run come to an end with a 0–1 defeat.

7th tier Worcester City it is then. Got banana skin written all over it if Danny doesn't take it seriously enough.
