Interesting article.

"Battersby emailed Desai on Christmas Eve laying out three options — commit £20m to Premier League survival this month, prepare to rebuild from the Championship next season or plan an orderly exit."

Pretty much the same options we face currently - albeit we seem to be going for the invest £20m option.

Yet today they appoint Eric Black as Steve Kean's new assistant head coach, and sign striker Anthony Modeste on loan from Bordeaux until the end of the season.
And there is talk about other players going there as well, so who is running the club, who is making the decisions, and what kind of s**t do they have in Lancashire?

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

Odd lot of people getting into football club ownership. Thinks we are lucky with Tony and Amit

Is the £50million annual wage bill mentioned the preverbial elephant in the room?

With our most recent past, and track record of the last 14 years, that scares the living beejaysus out of me

I can't see Venky's deciding to stump up £20m - and lets face it thats just for now not long term going forward which will requirte even more, especially if they are relegated at the end of the season.

Me too. 37 players on the books already. None of the ones we want out have any value; rising wages; players we want demanding £3m per annum.

We may not know exactly how much various players are earning but you can guarantee there won't be many of the first team squad under £25k per week.

And, should we get relegated, we'll have to fund those that remain from a turnover of £15m, excluding parachute payments.

Holloway's Blackpool had a ceiling of 10k, alright they went down but they seem to be well placed financially and are just of the playoffs.

And haven't WBA just declared a profit? Makes you think doesn't it?
