Such a shame! Lovely man and a fine comedy actor.

My fav character has to be Martin from Ever Decreasing Circles.

Also loved his cameo appearance in Extra's.

RIP Lovely, lovely fella with a very distinctive mellifluous voice.
A luvvie's luvvie.
Not just a comic actor, could do the heavy stuff too.
Here he is excellent as Polonius in Branagh's Hamlet:

Hope he's up in luvvie heaven now with Gerry (Paul Eddington) about to tuck into vegetable stew straight fresh from the garden and home-made elderflower wine.

BTW was he a Chiswick or Richmond resident?

Both the good life and ever decreasing circles were superb, the last episode if the latter when the penny dropped that he was going to be a dad was excellent.

No doubt had a good life, (sorry about the pun), but anyone who could grope Felicity Kendall and get paid for it knows that the gods of life are smiling on him.

Chiswick. He was very active in the borough of Ealing so he probably lived in the Ealing bit of Chiswick.

Just watched Ever Decreasing Circles on UK Gold with him as one of the stars. Didn't I read somewher that Terry Thomas was his uncle.

Very sad loss to British comedy and drama.

I used to love Ever Decreasing Circles, a very funny show at the time. He was a great actor and a lovely fella, used to see him a lot around Chiswick when I was growing up.
