I know squad numbers don't always indicate 1 to 11 being what is considered the strongest team, but if George was considered to be first choice keeper, I thought he would have been given the number one. I think George got a run of games last season because Gerken wasn't 100% fit. But if George is picked ahead of Gerken I don't have a problem with that. As for Chilvers, I don't think he gets in ahead of Wiredu, Hannant, Skuse or Judge.
Tom Eastman could break into the team if we go three at the back, but if we go 4-4-2, I think the preferred centre-backs will be Chambers and Smith, because of their time at Ipswich playing together in the Championship.
All of this is only my opinion, but I stick with my original comment that 1 to 11 is considered to be our strongest team. Of course this could change if we make any further signings. [Post edited 15 Jul 2021 9:56]

Yeh, in a formation of 2, 3, 2, 3 (usually five forwards) on a muddy pitch with cork studs and a leather case ball that travelled at half the speed and shook up your brain if headed. Proper football, with crunching tackles where men were men, no diving, no simulation or feigning injury. Incomparable. |  | | |

The only relevance is when a particular player manages to be given a famous Shirt Number from days of Yore.
7,8,9,10,11
We have had many great players wearing those shirts over the years.
Bobby Gough, Trevor Lee, Colin Garwood are three of my favourites and there are many more previously discussd on the board.
Frankly as long as we secure promotion this season I dont care what numbers are used.
