Season Ticket Holders and Multi-Match Permit Holders are free - you will need to buy a ticket to the game, and then receive a discount so as to make a ticket in their basket free of charge, as long as the ticket is of the same type as their permit.

Surely there is a better way to gain access to such matches for STH and MMPH holders ?
Perhaps the ticket office/ club could re-assess process from free ,purchase, reimburse scenario.

It's probably set up that way so that the club can get an idea of number attending. That's always been their justification for the overly complicated ticket pricing for first team games.
