I've always thought it was NO but someone was bellowing THOSE in my ear at Charlton and then in the Loft on Sat I heard THOSE too
These are the big issues, which should it be? Does it even matter? How many weeks till we play again? |

Disgraceful scenes at Japan v India - admittedly a 5 over farce but Japan were only chasing 30! Down to the wire in the last over, umpire gave a wide, India protested to square leg umpire saying batter had changed their stance before release (he hadn't) - and the umpires overturned the wide! Never seen that before. Total bullying. India won, of course. |

It's certainly a debatable one, as this thread showed and in the ground at the time.
From where I was stood in the Loft, thought it was a red card immediately, but some of the others around me disagreed. He did indeed not make a lot of contact with the player, but I don't think that's relevant, is it? He could easily have done because it was very reckless. Doesn't need to be blood on the pitch to be a red. Bloke in front of me thought it was a red, person behind thought no way. Mate watching at home thought it was a little harsh. Not sure there is a clear right answer here!
I know it was debatable, but I don't think it was an awful decision. I would have been screaming for a red the other way around. |

Valid point, I know we piled it on second half but actually both times we scored galvanised Preston into looking dangerous. Didn't Charles make a very good save on to the bar at 2-1?
To say we would have won the game if Alfie had scored is really not a statement of fact.
Reading the board this morning has just about blown my mind, just shows how differently we can all see it:

A bit more of a go? 22 games of which he played only acceptably for 1.5 of them. Then his hamstring blew up. Then we got him a loan to a decent league where nothing happened that was positive.
Not sure what else we could have done really. Simply not good enough. |

But not many teams win without getting max bowling points, so if we win that shouldn't be too much of an issue. Then if Northants get max batting points, we only need 1 point (250 in the first innings) as if we finish level on points, we get promoted for having more wins. I think! |

Nah, it was very dark and you can't have a league system played over months like this where the umpires just play on for the good of the game in crucial matches at the end. If it was in April and Kent were close to winning, once the reading hit that level they have to take them off.
It's fine if you have a common sense rule, but you don't.
So I think it just shows how fair the league is. Oh, and - up the Super Kent! Come on boys :-) |

Totally agree on Kevin Brock, so rarely had any impact at all on games.
How there is no mention of this thread of Tony Roberts I have no idea. Although usually only a stand-in, this man's blunders cost us so many times. Never had any confidence in him. |

There's many issues with this.
1) Posh spice has been married to David Beckham for a very long time. There is no evidence at all that she is a "slapper".
2) She is married to one of the best-looking and sought-after men in the world, so it appears highly unlikely that her lady bits offer up unpleasant pickle smells, as the aforementioned man is hardly going to be short of better offers if that was the case.
3) With all due respect to Dennis, if you are a middle-aged woman having shenanigans with one of the best-looking men in the world, it seems rather far-fetched that you would be thinking of QPR's left-back.
4) After all, he's not Ronnie Edwards.
5) Most importantly, we should have moved on from crap like this, just like the words to Oh West London should be changed. [Post edited 14 Sep 9:32]

Interesting team; I would have started Kamara if at all possible after his display at Charlton.

Good description of the Smyth one on one. Although the away end rose and bounced with that fantastic level of anticipation before an impending golden chance....we also all knew that with Paul it was hardly a given. Never really looked right with his feet.
As it is the great Johnny Spencer's birthday today, brought comparisons to him in that first season. I think it was at Maine Road when he went clear in similar fashion and I swear that the away end was already taunting the home fans, long before he had even taken a shot. You just knew he would score. He was so clinical that season. He was indeed the fkcing man, even if it was just for a short while. Imagine not reaching the playoffs with him up front. |

It was Marti Cifuentes. The bloke who kept us up (and competitive) in the league with a squad and strikeforce that would struggle in League One.

Lamptey is a free pass for the club, for me, whatever happens. Obviously a shot to nothing (presuming not huge wages). You don't get mutual release out of 1 year into a 4 year contract unless there is something seriously wrong.
As for the other injuries, it's beyond a joke. I don't pretend to understand medical science or exactly what the medical team do, but surely it's got to the place where there has to be a complete change. I struggle to think how anyone new could do any worse; even the old bloke who used to run on with a bucket and sponge and ill-fitting tracksuit would have better stats at this rate.

Agreed, that was bizarre. Still on train home and I can see us pass, pass, pass when I shut my eyes, seemingly for ever. But I thought we played pretty well against the most negative manager there is.
Thought Kamara was absolutely brilliant along with Ronnie.
And Smyth must score, as someone once said. |
