Left the club and retired 18 months-2 years ago. Club has gone in a different direction, and he's done his 35 years pounding the motorways.

The boot of his car is still full of thick coats though - "that's a scout's car Clive".

One of the points that I've made a few times. Nardi has settled quickest and performed best, but he was the most experienced, and he was signed first so has spent the most time with the team/coaching staff.

Former chief scout at QPR responsible for some of our best signings - Rowlands, Shittu and Cook first time around, Osayi-Samuel second time around - kindly sat down with us last Tuesday afternoon.

We chatted about the rebuilding of that team and its recruitment hits (and misses, Bob Taylor), culminating in the promotion at Hillsborough. Part one is pure nostalgia, and examining the method behind the madness. Some interesting names here that we were in for that I hadn't heard before - WE DID WANT CLIVE MENDONCA!!!

Part two talks about discovering Adel while at Spurs, coming back to Rangers and spotting Bright, and more contemporary discussion around data/analytics vs old school scouting.

Both parts available to all three sub tiers now...

"I see one's mistakes overlooked and the others being amplified and talked up for weeks."

That is, to say the least, a bit rich.

Agree Steve. Again, it's because our attack is so lousy. We can't go and seize control of games against teams like that, because we've got nothing to seize it with.

Same reason Morrison got a 6 not a 7 - missed a great chance, which is the reason we didn't win.

But there really isn't much difference between a 5 and a 6 or a 6 and a 7.

And in general this supposed big improvement in Madsen isn't evident to me. He looks fcking wooden.

It is a bit soul destroying. Somewhere in the region of 60,000 words this week all told. With travel. With day job.

First comment every time - he that was a six not a five.

And we're talking about the difference between a 5 or a 6.

Got booked after two minutes. Missed an absolute sitter. Got hooked after an hour and Varane was a vast improvement as his replacement.

Actually we do nothing this month other than play Watford or Norwich, the two teams we've played most before in history, so it'll be one of those. On a Sunday at 1.30.
