I'm sure Pompey are in their dressing rooms absolutely shitting themselves at the prospect of Right Said Frey rampaging among their back line, giving them absolute mayhem!

christmas day food..
at 12:47 25 Dec 2025

Vegan cheese isn't quite there. Yet!

A bleu des basques, brie with truffle, aged cantal, and a young goat cheese.

Don't mind fessing up....my dwindling stash of piccalilli will be raided and here, you get some honey infused with truffles which is to die for.

Just taking a 5 minute wine break...hope you chefs are 'kin 'avin it and killin' it!!

christmas day food..
at 08:11 25 Dec 2025

As with all pwaper LFW geezers, I do the cooking on Christmas Day.

Although I love turkey (cook upside down for the first half of the cooking time, cover and allow an hour to rest before carving) Mrs PH and I are basically vegan. So I'm serving up a vegan pithivier (our guest will, however, have a chicken brest), with regular trimmings all done with various spicy twists.

I say virtually as we bought some wonderful local stuff for the cheese board.

Now up, getting a jump on the vegan gravy and mustard and citrus dressing for the artichokes starter.

Gentleman, go well in the kitchen today and joyeux noël from me....'kin 'ave it!

In my experience, the older and closer you are to a person, the more lead in time you need to 'groom' them (sorry to use such a base term) into natural acceptance.

So, get a couple of vouchers throughout the year when opportunity appears. For example, she mentions she wants to read a book. You go straight to Waterstones buy a voucher, then present it as, 'I must be getting old, as I just couldn't remember (don't say I forgot the title what ever you do), and I didn't want to spoil the surprise, so I got you a voucher.' A bit ambitious, but aim for Crimbo 2027, with a voucher for an 'experience' and voila, you're in!

Mrs PH's present this year, a scuba diving thing* (see, I just got the voucher, no real idea WTF it is). Bit pricey, but saved a packet on wrapping paper and sellotape. Thank me later**

* thinking about it, she might have groomed me there!
** voucher naturally.

If you look closer you'll see the spherical object to the player's right, is actually a ping-pong ball.

Vouchers. Problem free and fail safe down the years.

In relation to things I'm more useless at compared to wrapping: ironing tends to be a case of...that'll do. Parking...near enough, that'll do. Using cling film which goes...'FCUK IT!! Mrs PH.....!'

The crowds have been quite poor!

Hopefully FIFA weren't left in charge of ticket pricing.

I was out in Oz them days, and a mate wrote to me after he got home from the Baseball Ground.

He said he knew we'd get something from the game when they drove past a van with a load of Rs in it, dressed up as Snow White and the seven dwarfs!

I've no reason to doubt him, and what an effort from the chaps.

Chair
at 06:02 23 Dec 2025

As long as the play doesn't always have to go through Chair all the time, and he's not the only player to take set pieces, then for me, he and we are better for it.

He's got better players in a better team around him, and his performances showed. But as we've seen without him, we can manage. Something managers before Mon. Stephan couldn't always say.

Thus, with the extra competition, Chair is not an automatic name for me. That said, if he's on it (and that now seems to also mean being fit), then it's easy to see why he would be!

Such riches unimaginable not that long ago!
