In the 70s, only five different teams won the European Cup. Since 2016, there have been six different winners. The 1980s however, every f.....g team won it, except us!
But I get you point: the drawbridge is being pulled up, and only the rich will dine at the top table and the rest of us will fight for the scraps.
Thing is: if the top clubs do eff off one day, their intergalactic competitions will be dull and just as the Championship is far more interesting than the Prem now, we might, and that's a big might, be in a far more interesting and enjoyable set-up. |

There's another issue here of the amount of money going abroad in the form of transfer and agents' fees, and wages the players/coaches may take out of the UK economy.
The former is where we should have most concerns, because that is money that traditionally filtered down from the top of the English game to lower league clubs. Instead, clubs in the Prem and of course, in the Championship, are now sending billions overseas on a yearly basis and the trickle down isn't happening. Bizarrely, given that a Nobel prize for economics went to a debunking of the theory, I'd suggest in English football, it actually worked before 1992.
As someone said above: all to get into a bent league that requires you to spend millions you don't have to just stand still in it!

I'd merely add that he also seems to have cut out those petulant fouls he frequently gave away and he's currently among the first names in the Starting XI.
The Wee Man is having a stormer and I imagine the oppo full backs dread playing against him as much as our full backs enjoy having him in front of them. |

As QPR crises go, this is surely the best one we've had in years! Totally agree with you David: keep on creating chances and the goals will come.
LR is a small ground, easier for teams to park the bus, so yes, we need to figure that out. But let's hope nappy wetting fans don't manifest their angst by getting on the team's back when it's not warranted. |

I used to commute between Manchester and Liverpool, and Manchester and Leeds. Best tannoy announcements from the guards:
1. Man-Liv - piping hot sunny morning, not a cloud to be seen. Guard says, 'Due to the windscreen wipers not working, this train will remain in the station until an engineer can fix them!'
2. Man -Lids - Freezing morning I board the train. We're still shivering by Stalybridge when the guard pipes up with this peach, 'Today is the first trip for this train, which arrived from Germany a few days ago. Unfortunately, I cannot turn on the heating because the instruction manual is in German. So, if anyone speaks German, please let me know as I come through to check tickets!!' |

Sensible, well said, and pretty much what many folks have been saying and thinking for years.
However, when did common sense ever get in the way of rapacious greed? Well, if fans feel this way the obvious course of action would be to stop buying the product; be that match tickets, TV packages, shirts and so on. The more we consume it, the more it will go on. |
