Huge applause for all those who make that trip to support the Rs tonight. 7 deg C. A 90% chance of rain. Memories of Jamie Mackie's leg being broken by a 'sewer rat'. |

Yes, our corners and free-kicks were depressing. Surely, coaching can bring about an improvement in that area? Also, some innovative thinking, such as we enjoyed when Terry Venables was with us. |

When I was watching on TV last night, I realised that when we won a corner or a free-kick in a threatening position, there was little point in becoming hopeful. Corners? The long, high corner to just beyond the far post is no longer working. Free-kicks? We offer no threat and seem to come up with nothing new. This is something that can and should be addressed on the training ground. |

It was the sort of goal that Adel Taraabt might have scored, for us. |

It's a very fair point, but, one which coaching and tactics should be able to address. |

Thanks Clive. Re: the Sheffield Wednesday comments. I was at Hillsborough last Saturday, to see them lose 1-2 to Oxford. (Yes, I know I could have been at Derby, but sometimes an invitation from a friend cannot be turned down). I have never been to a competitive match where the fans of a beaten home side were as happy when leaving the ground. It was bizarre. |

That sounded more like an interview with a manager than with a player. My guess is that that's where he will be heading before too long. If and when he does, his hair will suffer. |

Watching on Sky, I felt uncomfortable with the 'possession' football in the second half, when all I wanted was a second goal to seal the win. It felt like, before long, Swansea would get a free kick somewhere dangerous or latch on to a mistake and get an underdeserved equaliser. Clive's report however (he was actually there!) gave greater attention to the efforts that we made to increase the lead. I now feel even better about that win. |

Like most of us, I have no inside knowledge, but, a big part of Julien Stephan's reputation is his ability to improve the game of individual players. Has he worked out how to get the best out of Madsen? |

Agreed. Wonderful in The Godfather. |

That was truly impressive. But, did Dave Webb play for England? |

The Championship season is a long, hard slog and form is usually temporary. But, what if we maintained our form so far until May? We have picked up 12 points from 8 games. If we keep that up, we finish on 69 points. 69 points last season would have put us in the play-offs. But, what if we did better than that and maintained our recent 'inconsistent' form (the last five matches have delivered 11 points - an average of 2.2 per game). We would add 38 x 2.2 = 83.6 to the 12 already in the bank, which would give us 95 points. I think 95 points would give us something rather different to worry about. Just musing... |
