Week 32 Results

ASTON VILLA 0 SHEFFIELD UNITED 0

We are up and running again with a rather dull game, though Sheff Utd will think they were robbed after having what looked like a perfectly good goal disallowed. Nobody got this spot-on, but 8 did have the outcome.

MANCHESTER CITY 3 ARSENAL 0
Man City reduce the Liverpool lead to just 22 points with this comfortable victory against 10-man Arsenal. Just the 2 (Lewis_1 and wessex_exile) had this spot-on, and a further 17 got the outcome.

NORWICH 0 SOUTHAMPTON 3
Three second-half goals from Southampton condemned Norwich to their fourth defeat in five games, denting their hopes of Premier League survival. Nobody got this spot-on, though 12 did have the outcome.

TOTTENHAM 1 MANCHESTER UNITED 1
A late penalty earned Man Utd a point. With another penalty rightly overturned by VAR. Well done to gsy163 for surprisingly being the only one to have this spot-on, and another 3 got the outcome.

WATFORD 1 LEICESTER 1
The game exploded into life with two goals in stoppage time. Well done to Blue4U2 for surprisingly being the only one to get this spot-on, and only oxfcolu had the outcome.

BRIGHTON 2 ARSENAL 1
Brighton came from behind to get a 95th minute winner. Well done to BFG for being the only one to have this spot-on, and just the 2 (TheHappyGooner and blueeagle) got the outcome.

WEST HAM 0 WOLVES 2
Raul Jimenez set the record for the most goals by a Wolves player in a Premier League season after netting against West Ham to help strengthen his side's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League. 3 got this spot-on, and a further 13 had the outcome.

BOURNEMOUTH 0 CRYSTAL PALACE 2
Palace left struggling Bournemouth deep in Premier League relegation trouble with a comfortable victory. Well done to concordman for being the only one to have this spot-on, and 5 more got the outcome.

NEWCASTLE 3 SHEFFIELD UNITED 0
Newcastle get an emphatic win over 10-man United, as Joelinton scores their third, 2,130 minutes after his last goal for them. Nobody got this spot-on, but 9 did have the outcome.

ASTON VILLA 1 CHELSEA 2
Chelsea came from behind to win, as Villa have now lost five Premier League games after scoring first this season. 5 had this spot-on, and another 17 got the outcome.

EVERTON 0 LIVERPOOL 0
Seven of the last eight Premier League Merseyside derbies at Goodison Park have ended level. Nobody got this spot-on, though 3 did have the outcome.

MANCHESTER CITY 5 BURNLEY 0
City thrashed Burnley to ensure Liverpool will have to wait a little longer to wrap up the Premier League title. A full house predicted a win for City, but just GOSBTS did well to be the only one to have it spot-on.

LEICESTER 0 BRIGHTON 0
Neal Maupay's saved penalty proved pivotal as Brighton and Leicester played out a drab bore draw. Nobody got this spot-on, and only BFG had the outcome.

TOTTENHAM 2 WEST HAM 0
Tottenham picked up their first victory in eight games to leave West Ham with a battle to stay in the Premier League. A massive 13 had this spot-on in what was the weeks most predicted score, and a further 13 got the outcome.

MANCHESTER UNITED 3 SHEFFIELD UNITED 0
Anthony Martial scored Manchester United's first Premier League hat-trick for over seven years. Nobody got this spot-on, though 23 did have the outcome.

We might have wondered what effect a lack of fitness and playing games behind closed doors would have on results. As it turned out there were hardly any surprise results, but finding those important 3 pointers still proved to be difficult. Six games failed to have one, and another five had only one. It was left to Tottenham to give the week a boost by producing 13 of the weeks 28 spot-ons. At least there was plenty of outcomes, with 150 giving most members a reasonable score. It was a week where Division One completely dominated the Premier when it came to points scored, with gerry_us being the only one from the Premier to hit double figures, whereas Division One had a very credible ten. Those ten produced a good battle for the honour of being the weeks top scorer, and it was blueeagle who just edged it with a brilliant 14 points that included having the wins for Wolves and Chelsea spot-on. Just missing out was a back to form burnsieespana, and his excellent 13 points had the wins for Chelsea and Spurs spot-on. Just one member basher2010 managed to have three 3 pointers this week, they were the wins for Wolves , Chelsea and Spurs, to give him a superb 12 points. Well done to the others who had two 3 pointers. They were TheFatGooner, Blue4U2, concordman, Daniel, gsy163 and wessex_exile.

In the Premier A real struggle for points in this division, but that won't bother noah4x4 as it means his substantial lead will remain intact. In fact he increased it by a point from new runner-up thrillseeker. Up two places into the final Charity Shield spot is gerry_us. They both take advantage of a no show from Sector4 for the early fixtures. It appears eagledares is very unlikely to post again this season. So his inevitable relegation means, with TheHappyGooner having it all to do to avoid the drop, the other relegation spot looks like a straight shoot out between Colukev and Tropical_Us.

In Division One The top two Blue4U2 and basher2010 cement their automatic places with a superb 12 points each. Third place is still held by Daniel after his very decent 11 points. The top scoring effort moved blueeagle up a place. the other play-off spots are still held by GOSBTS and Lewis_1. A very decent 11 points also for concordman, and he moves a couple of places and to within 2 points of the play-offs. Further down the league the excellent week for burnsieespana also moved him up two places. It is now 8 weeks without a 3 pointer for unitedwhites but he still has more outcomes than anybody in both divisions.

THE TABLES (240 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Week 33 Saturday results

ASTON VILLA 0 WOLVES 1
Wolves have completed a league double over Villa for the first time since the 1962-63 campaign. 3 got this spot-on, and another 18 had the outcome.

PRESTON 1 CARDIFF 3
Cardiff leapfrogged Preston to move into the Championship play-off places with this emphatic win. Nobody had this spot-on, but 7 did get the outcome.

SWANSEA 0 LUTON 1
Luton climbed off the bottom of the Championship with a well-earned win over 10-man Swansea, boosting their own survival hopes and damaging the Welsh club's hopes of reaching the play-offs. Nobody got this spot-on, and only unitedwhites had the outcome. 25 predicted a win for Swansea with 11 going for a 2-0 in what was equally the most predicted score this week.

BARNSLEY 0 MILLWALL 0
Millwall lost ground in the battle for Championship play-off places after this bore draw. Another game with no 3 pointer, though 10 did get the outcome.

DERBY 2 READING 1
Derby kept up their momentum in the hunt for a Championship play-off place, to register a fourth successive league win, as both teams ended with 10 men. A great 8 got this spot-on, and a further 16 had the outcome.

BIRMINGHAM 3 HULL 3
It is now 13 games in the league without a win for Hull after leading 2-0 and 3-2. Nobody had this spot-on, but 5 did get the outcome. 20 predicted a win for Birmingham.

CHARLTON 1 QPR 0
Charlton boosted their hopes of Championship survival with a victory that leaves their London rivals cut adrift of the play-off spots. 4 got this spot-on, and 6 more had the outcome.

LEEDS 3 FULHAM 0
Leeds went back to the top of the Championship with a dominant victory over a Fulham side that ended with 10 men. Yet another game without a 3 pointer, though 22 did get the outcome with 11 going for a 2-1 in what was the other most predicted score.

STOKE 0 MIDDLESBROUGH 2
Colin more commonly known as Neil Warnock, or is it the other way round, has an instant impact as Middlesbrough get a vital win. Stoke are another team to have a late sending off. Another game this week without a spot-on, but 7 did have the outcome.

WIGAN 2 BLACKBURN 0
Lee Evans and Michael Jacobs scored late goals as Wigan extended their unbeaten run to eight games and kept a clean sheet for a sixth successive match. No spot-ons here either, though 8 did get the outcome.

With 10 of the weeks 15 fixtures played I thought it would be good to go back to old times and have a Saturday update. There will then be a full update of the weeks events after the Monday night games. First of all well done everyone for getting your predictions in on time with this tighter schedule. If we thought predicting all Premier League games was hard enough, the Championship has proved to be more difficult so far, with an amazing 7 games failing to produce a 3 pointer. At least the other 3 did achieve 15, and along with the 100 outcomes, most have had a reasonable week at the moment. Only one member concordman has done well to have two spot-ons, the wins for Wolves and Derby, and he is equally top scorer so far with 8 points. On that same total is thrillseeker, unitedwhites and an incredible effort from BFG to get it with 8 outcomes.

In the Premier Five outcomes so far for noah4x4 puts him ever closer to breaking the magic 200 point barrier, but time is running out to get a new 3 pointer record for the season. Three more required from 30 games now. A decent week in the making from thrillseeker has reduced the lead by 3 points, but a more realistic target is just to make sure he gets a Charity Shield spot. The only change so far has Sector4 moving up a place. At the bottom time is running out for TheHappyGooner to avoid the drop.

In Division One The top two Blue4U2 and basher2010 continue to do enough to keep the pursuers at arm length, and remain favourites for the automatic spots. Cup finalist blueeagle regains third place, but only on the most 3 pointer rule from Daniel. The most significant change has concordman moving back into a play-off spot, as Lewis_1 drops out of the top six for the first time season. Moving up a place as well is ghughes11 and gsy163, keeping their play-off hopes alive. After going 8 weeks without a 3 pointer unitedwhites finally gets one with the Derby 2-1. Another five outcomes means he still has more of them than anybody in either league.

THE TABLES (250 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Sunday's results

BRISTOL CITY 1 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 2
City take their winless run to seven as Sheffield Wednesday recorded a deserved victory at Ashton Gate. Only 2 got this spot-on, and 3 more had the outcome.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST 3 HUDDERSFIELD 1
Two goals from Lewis Grabban helped move Forest up to fourth in the table with victory over Huddersfield, who face the growing prospects of suffering back-to-back relegations. Well done to wessex_exile for being the only one to have this spot-on, and another 23 got the outcome.

WATFORD 1 SOUTHAMPTON 3
Danny Ings scored twice as Southampton deservedly beat Watford, who remain in deep relegation trouble after another uninspired performance. For the eighth time this week nobody got this spot-on, though 9 did have the outcome.

The struggle for 3 pointers continued in today's three games, with only three more, and the eighth game without one this week. By having the Sheff Wed 2-1 spot-on burnsieespana is now the weeks top scorer with his 12 points. The only other member to hit double points is concordman with his two outcomes taking his total to 10.

In the Premier Having the Sheff Wed 2-1 spot-on takes noah4x4 one step closer to breaking the record for 3 pointers in a season. Two more from 27 games required now. His 4 points today have restored the 42 point lead he had at the beginning of this round of games. Positions in this division remain the same as yesterday.

In Division One Three outcomes today for Blue4U2 improves his advantage at the top to 7 points. There is still an 8 point gap from basher2010 in second to the third, who is once again Daniel, after he reclaims the spot he lost yesterday. There is no other change to the play-off spots, but a number of members hold chances of still making them, boosted by some decent scores the past two weeks, lead by burnsieespana, who followed up last weeks 13 with a 12 so far this week.
