Thought it might be useful to have a thread where we can post bits of random information during the close season.
For starters:
OMB saying Tovide might well be off to Reading and if it happened assume we would be entitled to a fee? Swindon fans expecting Garner and his coach's to leave for Charlton anytime soon.
Think the Creepies got taken over recently, which gave them a injection of cash. Know they released a new third kit which hit the news due to its eco friendly / origin status.
League Two top scorer, Telford (of Newport) signs for Crawley.
Err, not sure what that is about? One would expect Newport to have more ambition!
Well that’s odd! When news broke he wasn’t signing a new contract, my assumption was he was aiming to move up the pyramid. Arguably, signing for Creepy is moving down!

As BW said, new owners with money. Not long until games are played over 4 quarters with time outs.
Three signings announced - Emyr Huws with a 1 year contract, Sam Hornby with a 2 year contract, and new signing Alex Newby (attacking midfielder) from Rochdale. Think that one was a 2 year contract?
I don't know anything about Newby, but definitely pleased about the other two.
Seem good signings. Wonder if George is off? Hope not as two good keepers is good competition but at least we have covered ourselves if he does go with a known quantity

Wessex I know nothing about Newby either other than Rochdale signed him from Chorley FC in 2020.

Could be a useful signing.
Up the U's
Alex Newby (apologies for the music)
Seems like a very similar player to what we hoped Hannant would be. Let's hope Newby gets rid of the bleached blonde hair before the season starts and doesn't get Covid!
Livingston with the best will in the world are definitely not the right opportunity for Shamal George. We do not need to say yes. George and Hornby are two good keepers who can help promote us to league One and we should say Foxtrot Oscar
Martindale thanks Livingston board for George transfer David Martindale has thanked the Livingston board for pushing the boat out to allow him to sign goalkeeper Shamal George from Colchester on a four-year contract. The Lions made the rare move of paying a transfer fee — undisclosed by the clubs — for the 24-year-old, who was named the U’s player of the year last term. The 6ft 6in George, who came through the youth ranks at Liverpool, has been given the number one jersey by the Lions. “We are absolutely delighted to get this one over the line,” manager Martindale told the Livingston website. “We have been tracking Shamal for a few months now and we have finally managed to agree a transfer fee with Colchester and a four-year contract with Shamal himself."

Mmm! Playing against Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen may top anything we could offer. I just hope we got an appropriate fee for him. Time will tell if he made the right decision but good luck to him "up North"
