Came in and looked like a proper professional, with the other 2 at the back they looked solid.

Hopefully Jimmy will learn lots from him when he fit again.

Great Job

Yes Thank God for that,Rangers have had a run of bad events a decent experienced central defender will hopefully be a start,Cook feels right for the club, in the way some others are not

The back three is really what it was - the back 3!

Fox fits well in the left of the three, many here said Kakay’s best position is right of a back 3, and forest fans affirmed Cook is best in the centre of 3 central defenders

Play to the squad strength gives you wonder!

Reading this thread, it's hard to see how JCS will get back in the side for his two remaining games: Bristol City (h) on 11 November, and Blackburn (a) 3 February.

If fit, I think he’ll come in for Fox, personally. Dunne will come in for Kakay, if we stay with a back 3, although like Cook he is much better centrally.

Kakay is pretty important in this shape in that he can play RCB, but when the systems rotates in game if we’re attacking down one flank more, or we need to react to the oppo, and go to a back 4, he can easily transfer to RB, in a way I’m not sure Dunne can. Getting a similar RB/RCB on loan would be wise. Drewe certainly can’t do it.

Steve Cook is the Messiah end of, our defence desperately needed a leader and there is no doubt a back three makes the defence look more solid, it should be a default option when your back four is looking vulnerable and that has been the case.

I was impressed most by his positioning and judgement yesterday. Where to be, when to engage and not engage. Constantly talking. Simple things but made a big difference.

Ossie playing in that more natural position alongside him was such a different Ossie.

It won't be that successful every week we know, but suddenly you've got a defensive 3 that makes sense with 2 players waiting to come back into it (well 1.5 players).

Sounds as though he was everything at Forest that Warburton wanted him to be here. Who knows how differently things may have turned out if w’ed landed him and not ended up with that absolute liability, Sanderson. Better late than never, I guess.

As an aside, I see that Eustace made Sanderson captain for Brum against Leeds yesterday.

I agree Hoopsie. The back three looked balanced and comfortable in their roles. I've said a few times that I think Ossie suits the right side of a three rather than orthodox RB. Didn't think I'd see it yesterday though! Also, Fox looked happy in that (whisper it) Clint Hill 'not-quite-left-back' position too.

We clearly love it when a plan comes together.

He must have improved, and grown up, since he was here then.

Laird won the penalty too. No sign of Roberts though so some things never change.

Just what the doctor ordered. Brings some much needed spine, leadership, and calm authority to the defence. Will be interesting to see whether Colback brings the same to midfield.

I think we’ll be ok there, Benny.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?
