LIVERPOOL 1 ARSENAL 1
Arsenal maintained their place at the top of the Premier League after this thrilling draw. 3 had this spot-on, and another 7 got the outcome.
SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1 CARDIFF CITY 2
Cardiff stunned Wednesday with a late comeback to snatch victory at the end of a game they rarely looked like winning. The 3 who got this spot-on will not mind that, and another 6 had the outcome.
BARNSLEY 2 STEVENAGE 1
Barnsley came from behind to win and end Stevenage's eight match undefeated run. A super 6 had this spot-on, and a further 10 got the outcome.
WYCOMBE WANDERERS 1 PORT VALE 1
Substitute James Wilson struck a 90th-minute equaliser as Port Vale escaped with a draw, to extend Wycombe's winless run in League One to ten games. A superb 10 got this spot-on, and nobody had the outcome.
MORECAMBE 1 MILTON KEYNES DONS 3
Two goals from Max Dean gave MK Dons a valuable three points. The game saw Dons captain Dean Lewington make an EFL record-equalling 770th appearance for a single club, matching John Trollope's total with Swindon between 1960 and 1980. Nobody had this spot-on, but 8 did get the outcome.
TRANMERE ROVERS 2 SWINDON TOWN 1
Tranmere made it four League Two home wins on the bounce with a comeback victory over Swindon to move further away from the relegation zone.A splendid 9 got this spot-on, and another 3 had the outcome.
As somebody who likes a good stat, I was interested in what noah4x4 had to say in the Week 21 thread.
"I’ve struggled to get three pointers this season having enjoyed repeated success from a formulaic system for a number of years. However, I am still hitting (1pt) results. What I have just discovered is the surprisingly significant impact of the anti-time wasting measures that have resulted in longer “time added” and hence lengthening of the ball in play.
For example, the added time means EFL games are averaging 2.77 goals per match, up from 2.44 last season. League Two has seen the biggest difference, with 15% more ball-in-play time this season compared to last - with an average of more than seven extra minutes of action. That has coincided with a 29% jump in goals scored in the division, according to the EFL. I suppose the appalling goal difference of Sutton and Col U distort these numbers, but it is probably why 1-0, 0-1 are less rewarding forecasts than hithertoo".
That is a good point. Unless games had a bad injury, it was nearly always a standard 4 minutes added on at the end, despite all the time wasting. The random picked fixtures in the Happy League not surprisingly match the EFL average, with the 150 games played so far producing 424 goals, at an average of 2.82 goals per match. With those extra goals, the 1-0 has struggled, and is well down on previous seasons, with only 9 so far. With 3 today the 2-1 is best for a home win on 15, followed by the 2-0 with 12. Extra goals hasn't stopped the 0-1 from being best for an away with 14, one more than the 1-2. Top result overall is still the 1-1 with 19.
Now on to how this week went. WOW! what an absolutely incredible one it was. With all 14 teams involved scoring, it was not one for going 1-0 or 0-1. It was certainly one for going 1-1 and 2-1, and that is exactly what RSCOSWORTH did, and he got his reward by getting four 3 pointers, the 2-1 wins for Spurs and Barnsley, and the draws at Liverpool and Wycombe. Only a third goal in the 97th minute for MK Dons stopped him getting a fifth. Just an outcome instead, to make him the weeks top scorer with a quite brilliant 13 points. We don't have many 7 game weeks to compare records, but those 13 points equal the record for a 6 game week. The weeks 43 spot-ons would also be an outright record for a 6 game week. In what was a fill your boots week, four members did well to get three 3 pointers, with the best coming from Tropical_Us, who did it for the second week running, with the 2-1 wins for Spurs and Tranmere, and the Wycombe 1-1, and Sector4, who only predicted 6 games, but still got 2-1 wins for Spurs, Barnsley and Tranmere, and blueeagle, who had the 2-1 wins for Cardiff and Tranmere, and the Wycombe 1-1. They each also had two outcomes, to give them all a magnificent 11 points. Also durham_exile who got the 2-1 wins for Spurs and Barnsley, and the Wycombe 1-1, and one outcome, to give him an excellent 10 points. Best of the nine who had two 3 pointers was Blue4U2, who got the Cardiff 2-1 and the Wycombe 1-1, and three outcomes to give him a superb 9 points. Another record for a 6 game week was that only one member, of those that posted, failed to get a 3 pointer this week.
U'sual Champions League Just 10 games to go before we find out who this seasons qualifiers are. Current holder unitedwhites qualifies automatically, and then it is the eleven top scorers from the two divisions who will join him. The member currently in that important eleventh place is bwildered with his 92 points. With three members on 91 points, this is going to be a big final week for qualifying. Don't forget it is a Friday evening deadline for those final 10 games.
In the Premier A decent week for concordman, that included having the 2-1 wins for Spurs and Barnsley spot-on, made sure of remaining top, but his lead was reduced by a point by blueeagle, whose magnificent week moved him up a couple of places into a season high second, and mfb_cufc, who got the 2-1 wins for Spurs and Tranmere spot-on, but has to settle for third on the most 3 pointer rule. Another to have those wins for Spurs and Tranmere spot-on was unitedwhites, but he also drops a place to fourth. The final one in this division to get the Spurs and Tranmere wins spot-on was thrillseeker, and he remains fifth. The brilliant week for RSCOSWORTH moved him up a couple of places, and into the top half for the first time since Week 10. A decent week for oxfcolu that included having the Tranmere 2-1 and the Wycombe1-1 spot-on, keeps him seventh. It is a season low eighth for ghughes11, after he dropped a couple of places, despite having the Spurs 2-1 spot-on. The magnificent week for Sector4 moved him up a place, and out of the bottom three for the first time since Week 8. Despite getting a first 3 pointer in eight weeks, the Tranmere 2-1, it didn't stop noah4x4 dropping into the relegation zone for the first time this season. The Wycombe 1-1 spot-on for Moor_Pinot, but he has suddenly got a lot to do to avoid the drop.
In Division One A decent week for Daniel, that included getting the wins for Spurs and Tranmere spot-on, increased his lead to the 8 points he achieved, as he took advantage, at what turned out to be a very unfortunate missed week, for basher2010. Despite that he holds on to the other automatic spot, but the pack have closed right up, lead by Tropical_Us, whose magnificent week moved him up another four places to third. Remaining fourth on the most 3 pointer rule is Jorash63, after he had the Wycombe 1-1 spot-on. Having the Cardiff 2-1 spot-on keeps burnsieespana in fifth place. The decent week for Blue4U2 moved him up a couple of places, and back into the final play-off place. A decent week for bwildered, that included getting the Liverpool and Wycombe draws spot-on, moved him up three places to seventh. His highest position since Week 10. An unfortunate missed week for Colukev drops him five places. Going three places the wrong way is BFG, although he had the Barnsley 2-1 spot-on. A fifth week without a 3 pointer, and the only member not to get one this week, has continued the decline for TheRams, that saw him second only five weeks ago. Although he got the Spurs 2-1 spot-on, Lewis_1 remains eleventh. The excellent week for durham_exile moved him up three places, and to his highest position since Week 3, and only 11 points from the play-offs. Up a place after having the Spurs 2-1 and the Wycombe 1-1 spot-on, is wessex_exile. The first time he has a move in the right direction since he was top after Week 9. Having the Barnsley 2-1 spot-on kept Madeira163 off the bottom. Not so lucky was gerry_us, even though he got the Wycombe 1-1 spot-on.
