He almost certainly won’t be a “lone wolf”. He’s been groomed and radicalised by certain groups who put the mental in fundamentalists.

There’s good and bad in all walks life. This guy in Germany is clearly a wrong un, but there are plenty of more muslims who are good, upright decent citizens. One of my neighbour is a paediatrician who devotes his time to making sick kids better while another is a surgeon who spends his time saving local people’s lives. [Post edited 20 Dec 22:44]

We tolerate the intolerance of others, it's a strategy that will fail.

Sorry we reap what we sow, and there are many many more Muslims who are not upright decent citizens, these offences are becoming more common all over Europe. I dread to think what the future holds

I'm well aware of that fact and thanks for reminding me , in fact we all could do with reminding , I myself was recently treated by an Asian doctor and was extremely grateful for that , I never asked nor did he provide what faith he followed if indeed he did but one point if you will , I never mentioned the religion of the attacker so did you presume I did. Recently you seem to be sniping at me at every opportunity you can get , I'm not sure why but its becoming quite unnerving . tbh.

Still FIFA will go ahead with the World Cup in Saudi despite its appalling human rights record and lack of antly rights for women.

Another Xmas market disaster on 00:00 - Dec 21 with 628 views | JACKMANANDBOY | I'm fuming, Frank Gardener at the BBC said the market was woefully under protected suggesting that every public event should have high security. Next time you go to a match, cinema, shopping centre looks out for the armed guards and high security!

I’m surprised how little coverage Saudi getting the World Cup has got. Qatar must have paved the way. I find it pretty depressing.
Another Xmas market disaster on 06:35 - Dec 21 with 514 views | 1983 | Unfortunately this is just a way of life now like football scores and the lottery, the Genie is well and truly out of the bottle and like someone else said you reap what you sow. I truly believe we are just around the corner from another horrific terrorist attack. Hopefully I have another 25yrs left in me then I will be tapping out but I do fear for my kids, grandkids....

Another Xmas market disaster on 08:40 - Dec 21 with 481 views | AnotherJohn | From official statements it is looking as though this is a highly unusual case where a 50 year old Saudi national, who worked as a prison psychiatrist, held strong anti-Islamist views, and appeared to have made bizarre X posts that might indicate a mental disturbance, I guess we need more information before we have much idea about motivation. All I would say is that in addition to the obvious risks of jihadi violence, mass immigration into Europe sets in play complex interactions and dynamics that can cause collateral damage.

Presumably the sort of mental disturbance that makes people believe there’s a fictional all seeing all knowing superman living in the sky who wants you to commit the most heinous atrocities that he easily has the power to do himself in order to reward you with lots of virgins in paradise. Because people who believe in fictional supermen clearly don’t have their faculties working in a logical manner.

You can probably gather that I am not a fan of radical Islam, but it seems from the content of his X posts that the arrested man - "Taleb A" - was an activist who had been involved in getting Saudi atheists and other dissidents who oppose Islam into Europe. So if we can believe the reports he is not the usual jihadist zealot. Edit: Among the X posts was one accusing the German people of being responsible for the killing of Socrates and some that said the police were opening his mail. I won't count a post blaming Merkel for the "silent Islamisation of Europe" as necessarily indicating mental disturbance. [Post edited 21 Dec 10:11]

What is a “usual jihadist zealot” in reality though? The hijackers on 9/11 were made up of lawyers, schoolteachers and engineers. This guy is a doctor. Anyone can be radicalised and very quickly. His posts on Twitter from years ago might not be indicative of his frame of mind in recent months. The fact is if he just wanted to cause carnage and kill people he could have selected any crowd, a football match, a beer festival. But he has seemingly targeted the fairytale section of a Christmas market where there were likely to be lots of children and families. Just like the Ariana grande bombing, just like the Southport stabbings, children appear to have been the target.

Well, we will see when more information comes out, but the posts were quite recent, and reports say the man also ran a website with anti-Islamic content, I accept that the authorities might prefer a story of that kind, and it seems that some pro-immigration groups in Germany are saying this was a supporter of AfD who turned on Germany because it did not support extreme policies. It wasn't so much the occupation and age that I had in mind when I said the attacker was atypical, but the social media posts and reaction to them, https://eturbonews.com/why-this-saudi-terrorist-killed-germans-attending-the-mag

Anyone claiming to understand exactly what the motive was here is obviously playing politics with a tragedy.
