To save polluting the TV thread, I thought I'd start a thread for the films we've seen this year.

I saw A Real Pain the other day and it's a really nicely put together piece by Jesse Eisenberg. It unpeels like an onion, with each layer getting closer to the central pint. Good film.

Babygirl could have been so much better. Nicole Kidman does well but it all feels a bit 'off'.

Rewatched Anatomy of a Fall the other day - brilliant.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

Recently watched Sinners and 28 years Later. Both with a bizarre role for Jack O'Donnell.

Sinners was an odd vampire film. A musical, action, period, horror, gangster film. A kinda mash up of Dusk till Dawn, 30 days days of night (nowhere near as good as both) and Crossroads (not that one) . Literal all singing and dancing vampires in Southern Texas cotton picking fields. The story about Sammy " Preacher boy" Moore and his journey to becoming a Blues guitarist legend doesn't really feel is being told and its more about the Smoke and Stack gangsta twins, but it all gets derailed by the blood Suckers anyway!. Half decent B Movie fodder. 3 stars.
28 Years Later, had a more serious tone, genuinely creepy, Wicker man vibes, although the zombie with a 9" penis was hilarious. A good third act to the ongoing 28 Days story. The ending was a bit jarring though and completely changed the tone and direction . Risky move by Danny Boyle but its an interesting one. 3.5 stars.
Also re watched the original Avatar's preparing for the third instalment. The first is a great film but i don't hold out much hope for part 3. Also watched part 2 and its pretty dire.
