Personally, he’s a long way to go to be anything near a Championship striker who will score doubke figures goals or even earn the club a big fee. Will that change ?

I think he's shown the opposite since Williams left to be honest. Probably should have scored at least one tonight but it happens.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I thought he was improving but tonight he was very poor his finishing was dreadful, on another day we could have paid for those misses. His service was excellent tonight so he can't complain, three excellent chances he should've taken. We still need a number 9.

I desperately want him to do well, I think there's a striker there but he's just not had a good season and maybe lacking a bit of confidence. Give him run of games until the end of the season and hopefully see some progress.

Maybe with a better pre-season and new players coming in next year will compliment him and we'll see an improved version next year. But at the moment the jury is starting to swing the other way.

He seems to be that vital second too late. Could have had 4 tonight.
Hope he improves his timing and movement.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

In a way I agree. But it was being said that he was not getting the service, last night he did and still failed to take his chances and lets be fair the Plymouth defence was rubbish. I want all of our players to do well, but how much time do we give him, if a half decent offer comes in I say take the money. We can't blame Williams now, possibly he needs to move on to flourish.

He’s effin useless !!
I’m sick and tired of people saying he doesn’t get the service, and we don’t play to his strengths.
He hasn’t got any that’s why !. He missed 2 sitters, has zero physically for a big lump, never gets on the end of corners and set pieces because he can’t jump. He has a good strong, straight shot, and that’s it.
I feel I must qualify this gloom & doom, by saying it was a pleasure to watch that team performance last night, apart from the finishing, that’s the type of football that would bring me back to The Stadium.
Special mention to sick note Joe Allen, reminded me of King Leon, where he kept things ticking over in midfield and gave us momentum going forwards.
Also, if these owners want a return on their investment ie. Back to the land of milk & honey, (The Prem) break the bank and sign up O’Brien, he has star quality.
Sell or loan out Vipotnik and Bianchini to free up their wages to help pay for him

I'm one of those
Sadly , now ,I've changed tack as last night was tailor made for him to put it right
He fsikeVip simply lacks all round skill for this level
A proper striker is a priority, as it was last season

This has been his biggest problem all season. He doesn’t anticipate play very well and is often a second or so too late.

The ‘not creating enough for him’ is/was pre Sheehan a semi-valid argument, but a lot of it is down to him not making the right run or not timing it right.

He’s certainly improved under Sheehan, he’s got a powerful shot on either foot and links play well when we get people around him. Certainly a position we need to strengthen.

Thing is Big J couldn't teach him how to anticipate the ball coming into a space, he';ll need to be able to read that himself, he hesitated on his 2nd and 3rd chance last night he's not instinctive enough to me at least.

He's still young, but I'll be surprised if he becomes anything like a 12/15 goal striker, he takes too long to make his mind up great if he has the time, but he's not gonna get time that often

He's gone most of the season starved of opportunity (chances on the pitch) things are improving in that sense but even the best players in the world sometimes go on a barren run and need to play themselves into form. That's why I'd give him as much minutes as possible for the remainder of the season. With our championship status all but secured for next year we can hopefully go out and play with the same style and swagger like we did last night. If he gets the minutes, and the chances he had last night and still doesn't capitalise on them then I think my mind will be made up, but he has a chance (without too much pressure) to go and play himself into form.

Also worth noting that the two new coaches brought in to support Sheehan have had next to no time with him yet so let's see if they can get a tune out of him.

Then we must reflect and say, it has to be Russell Martin’s fault, who else could it be 😂

He's not had a good season, but up until the end of January that was predominantly due to how we set up to play. He's joined a new league, a new team and moved country, some players take longer than others to adapt. You can write the first 6 months of the season off playing under LW. He now has a small window and chance to show us what he's really capable of until the end of the season. I hope he takes it.

I hope he takes it but for me he is lacking the basics. Wednesday his finishing was horrendous and he was a yard off with his positioning for other chances. Watch the O'brien goal, that should have been his, it was an excellent cross for a decent number 9.

I’ve just read that Tymon has created more chances than any other defender in the championship this season. I’m assuming the vast majority were crosses.

I’ve never bought into the theory that we don’t create anything for Vipotnik, even under Luke Williams. Him not making the right run or making it too late, I’ve seen countless times. This is another example.

He has, in fairness, improved a lot since Sheehan took over, but so far, he’s nowhere near the player some think he is.

Vipotnik has just turned 23. He is big strong and physical. He can score great goals and has a great shot. He needs to be given game time and patience.

Look at the love shown to Liam Cullen who is three year older is not strong and not fast and weak in the air.

Wales does not produce tall number 9. There is a a fellow Harvey Gray in the u16 who plays occasionally for the U18. He looks tidy and promising. Only 16.

Swansea fans trashed Gyorkeres when he was a sapling. Let the tree grow with water minerals and loving care and see what you have at 24 with another 50 games under his belt. One on his misses v Plymouth was 1m from the post and bar w and would have been a "worldy" if slightly more accurate.

He should be penalty taker and should be practicing all week. Cullen should be not hiding from this responsibility after missing the target completely. This is w a weak mentality. He must be scoring right here right now at 26 y o.

Welsh no 9 are extremely rare as in the UK as a whole. Even Luke Jephcott was once rated at a few million. He scored today at 25 for Truro Town.

Agreed he did very little today. Cullen didn't do much more but he did close players down. If anyone offers anything for him he must be gone. If Sheehan can't get a tune out of him here nobody in the future will.

You probably told us Gyorkeres was useless as well.? He has only just turned 23. Fans argue "how were we supposed to know?" (about big Vic).

It is not about blame and hard evidence but gut feeling experience and wisdom. The goal v Leeds was exceptional but when people view things for the opposition point of view it was a goalkeeping error. No it was a top finish.

Some European teams already see the potential and have registered interest.

I remember you casting Gyorkeres aside when he was playing for us. Do you really want me to bring it up yet again. We all move on yet you are stuck in whatsaboutary and are one of the biggest culprits. Live in the now not the past. What contribution do you think Vipotnik made on Wednesday and again when he came on today. Let's deal in the current if you even watched the games in full not YouTube highlights. If not just do one.

Ronald has become our aerial outlet when he came off Vipotnik was not used as that outlet is that because the preferred option is to play the long ball from the goalie out to the wings or his ineffectiveness under the high ball being better suited to the ball being played lower into his body which has been tried during games he has started. We did become a lump it forward to no-one team toward the end of the game similar to Steve Coopers reign, there was no outlet used today and the pressure did mount towards the end of the game, Eom challenge? The only reason I could think for a penalty not being given was the Ref balancing out the penalty refusal for the challenge on Vipotnik. We got away with it today similar to Coopers time through dogged defending but it only takes a ricochet to change the result. Would have been happy with a draw at the start of the game but wouldn't have been happy today with a draw after being ahead so late in the game.
Think we really need to be more careful clearing the ball even under intense pressure, I think it erodes the confidence to breakout and counter act effectively over time, thought the same under Cooper.
We did relieve the pressure at times but we did not have an attacking threat which is a concern that I would be happy for Sheehan be in place to rectify next season, will Vipotnik be the main outlet to relieve that pressure? He wasn't today but he was of use to added height in the defensive third at corners and free kicks, hope is preformances improve with time in a team whose set up seems to be improving.

We can use any tall player to defend set plays, we need a forward to be a goalscorer.
