After the Orange türd attacked and took control of Venezuela should the UK and the rest of Europe boycott the World Cup

Will Infantino ask for his Peace prize back 🤔

It would make me feel a lot happier about my decision not to apply for tickets from the England Supporters Travel Club allocation.

I would qualify for tickets for every game as things stand.

Without knowing too much detail about this, is it a bad thing to remove the leader of a country where there is hyperinflation, people are starving and suffering? More than 80 per cent (just an number I have seen) of people there live in severe poverty and our government advises that no-one should travel there, as it is highly dangerous. As far as I am aware, there hasn't been any civilian deaths and all that has happened is that Trump has removed a terrible leader who just ensured all his people starve and suffer.

Isn’t much of South America and Africa in a similar situation?

Well yeah, there is something in it for Trump, namely the oil he wants to make him and America money, but I doubt the venezuelan people care too much if they are starving and suffering anyway. If things improve for them (and who.knows if it will), the country starts being run better, why would they be unhappy if they are starving with inflation at 270 per cent.

So if I don't think my next door neighbour is running his home very well, can I kidnap him and commandeer his house??

If your neighbour was also starving his wife and kids, wouldn't you be thanked for helping them, if the cause of this abuse and starvation was removed? They would be pleased to be helped I would have thought.

Trump doesn’t care about the Venezuelan people. He’s after oil. I thought the US was supposed to be a democratic country. It’s looking more and more like a country where the President can do what ever he likes when he likes. And with a mad man in charge we are entering a dangerous period. The US have set a precedent. Russia can take Ukraine and don’t be surprised if China goes for Taiwan. Feckin madness.

But wasn't the Venezuelan president also doing drugs deals in to the USA, so was causing issues there? That ofcourse might be a nice excuse. I don't doubt that Trump is doing it for his own needs, for oil and for America, but without any civilian casualties, I am not sure I would care if the leader that was making me starve and giving me a terrible life through bad economic mismanagement, was removed, anymore than we would all probably be delighted if Putin was removed.

Put it this way, it's nothing like the starvation and deaths purposely inflicted on the people.of Gaza, that Starmer and all western leaders did nothing about. It was Trump in the end, who brought about the ceasefire helping to ease the starvation there, that no European leader did anything about and even provided arms to Israel to.do it. So I am not one of those who thinks any of the world / European leaders are so much more moral than Trump.

Don't believe the propaganda. All wars are bankers wars. More people will die so they can effect a regime change and do a land grab stealing resources and money.

No doubt that Maduro is a terrible President who stole an election and is a criminal. But there is International law to follow and history shows us that when the US gets involved things don’t end well. Libya, Afghanistan being two more recent examples. The simple fact is I believe Trump is unhinged. His comments about Mexico and now Cuba show this. God knows what he will do next.

As for Starmer. Totally agree the man is an embarrassment who will hopefully be gone by the end of the year. And who knows what is going on in Gaza. The Zionists have banned all foreign media and have proscribed all aid agencies banning them. Including Medical Aid for Palestine which has been a neutral aid agency for years. I very much doubt starvation has eased. If only we could be told what’s going on.

Happy New Year and let’s hope 3 points today can cheer things up.

This has all the hallmarks of getting very messy and making the world a less safe place.

Maduro is a dictator that had no right to still be in charge after stealing the last election and has driven the Venezuelan economy into the ground.

Whilst I and most will be pleased that he has been removed, it was the way it was done and it does break International law. What happens now is a big question.

I do fear how this will all pan out. As per usual, the US have started something with no plan on how to put things right. The existing regime under Maduro is still there

It was also a week after China had been doing Operations just off Taiwan. This will give China the green light to take Taiwan.

Is it about oil ? If not, it definitely has a big impact. Whilst US has a lot of oil (Light) Venezuela produces the ‘Heavy’ oil, which is in demand.

China will be particularly keen to retaliate, given they were the main beneficiaries of cheap Venezuelan oil.

Could indeed get rather messy, this.

" Would Burnham or Streeting really be any better than Starmer?"

Probably not, but Starmer is the PM and he looked very weak, with his lame non-committal response.

France, Italy, Germany, Norway, Canada and UN have come out strongly saying International Law must be adhered to. Trump (and his cabinet) believe they are above this.

A game between two scuffling football teams where our best hope of a result is a bore fest 0-0.

Whatever happens we won’t be getting anywhere near the play-offs, so I struggle to get bothered about it.

Not sure I’ll bother watching on a stream as like all our games of late, it will be utterly tedious.

Agree with sentiment, but what if TE comes out and says he will:

1 play his best starting line up,
2 play only 2 CB's/ back 4
3 commits to getting forward quicker, and stops the tedious side to side/back passes
4 Doesn't play Fellows as wing back
5 Adopts same approach used in his first 6 games

Would this sway it for you to watch ?

None of those are going to happen, are they?

Though he may just not play Fellows at all….

Christ Pat you do talk some shite, after all these years you of all people should know that it’s not the result that excites us, but the unexpected delight that all the stars have aligned and we are playing some really good football.
However thanks for your contribution to this FOOTBALL forum, maybe time to sit quietly with a stiff one and look forward to the game.

I thought yesterday about going to the game.

But am fed up with being one of about 3 or 4 people who try to get noise going that doesn’t involve singing fcuking Scouser songs. So struggle to see the point.

Personally I think it’s bad etiquette and bordering on downright rude to try and hijack a sensible thread with some bleating about it not being about football.

There’s plenty of talk on SaintsWeb about low blocks and xG’s if that floats your boat.

In an attempt to bridge the slightly fractious gap between geopolitics and football on here this morning I was thinking that there are curious parallels between Saints and Venezuela.

Both seem to have a pretty shit defence and are soon overrun by fast direct attackers who are far better equipped for the modern game.

Both have , in Stephens and (latterly) Maduro, leaders who couldn't get laid in a woman's prison carrying a briefcase full of pardons.

Both, as of yesterday, now have Owners (SR and Trump) who in any historically normal world order would currently be held under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act of 1983.

I went to my first game at the Dell in 1960 fully expecting us to win. I'll stick with that approach today.
