His net worth is $145m and he may have other 'contacts' in the football world so it'll be interesting if it is true.

I assume CUSA will arrange travel if we have a pre-season friendly at the Maracanã ?

If he's spent most of his time in Italy and Brazil, what is there not to like about Essex in January?

Perhaps he's the public face of a consortium behind him?

Btw, he's only 36, can he still play?

I can image that some interpreter is getting a bollocking this morning.

"I thought you said they wanted me to fly to a MANchester United game for some PR work!!!!"

Retired from playing last year and hinted at owning a club then.

Asked about becoming a coach in the future, Pato added: "Who knows... I don't think so, or at least that's my current thinking. Maybe as a manager or as a club owner. I've gained a lot of experience in my career, and I can share that with the players. I'd like to do that."

"Maybe as a manager" doesn't sound to reassuring!

We've already got a good one of those and decent training facilities, we just need a bigger budget and someone who knows how to run a football club.

My Chelsea supporting friend tells me he's the guy behind the groundsman in this photo posted by BBC Essex on Saturday.

Let's hope it's got some legs. Those Brazilian lads are in for a treat when they see Essex girls! Far better than anything they see back home!

If RC is not content with the money that an Englishman can offer, and we have to be the play thing of a bunch of foreigners, I would much rather it be from an emerging country like Brazil, than a bunch of backstabbing US bastards that forget who their friends are.

Late for two world wars, they're hell bent on starting the next one.

Absolutely, this would be the big worry. Colchester United don't just have a good manager, they have the best management duo below The Championship.

Sorry, must've got you confused with an old friend. My mistake.

PS - I love it. It's a thing of wonder.

For those youngsters , this was the Brazilians super stars full career in the blue and white.

Fumaça then joined Second Division side Colchester United, making his debut in only the second ever TV pay-per-view game when Colchester hosted Manchester City. Colchester lost the game 1–0, but not before Fumaça was stretchered off injured after just 14 minutes following a collision with Andy Morrison.[9]

I distinctly remember an advert in one of Col U's football programs many years ago what would happen if a young Brazilian player wanted to join our club but we couldn't afford him to obtain a loan from Nationwide building society. Though it didn't say anything about if a Brazilian guy wanted to buy our club but I doubt Pato would need to use Nationwide tbf...

If he does buy the club does this mean we'll have young Brasileiro Serie A players coming in on trial or through player exchange programs?
