At this exciting/worrying time in our history, people who cannot understand why many of us despise the very existence of the MK Dongs, might like to consider how they would feel if a prize c@n# like Peter W@nkelman suddenly rocked up at the home of football.
With the club not having it’s own stadium, how do we fancy relocating 60 miles away to a piece of land outside say Bedford?

As frustrating as it appears, Robbie Cowling has always been transparent that if the deal isn't right for Colchester United then it's no deal.
We won't ever know whether this was us pulling out or them pulling out, nor will we ever know why either (or both) made that decision. However, the vitriol directed towards Robbie Cowling on social media by those who have no clue to the answers of the above questions is unacceptable. I get that people might not like how he has run Colchester United, but whether you like it or not, he's done so largely with his own personal fortune for more or less two decades.
Personally, I'm actually glad that gobshite John Terry is not going to be associated with our club. |  |

While we may never know why this has fallen through, I have picked up things RC has said over the past year or so.
The US deal went nowhere because they didn't have the money.
The Brazilian offer was good money but not right for the club.
The JT consortium we're offering less but had a interest in the academy.
This is a complete assumption, with no real foundation, but I won't be surprised is the academy is the reason why deals are getting nowhere.
When RC says the deal has to be right for the club, I expect that means he wants someone to continue his academy dream. The JT consortium have probably scrutinised the academy and realised it's not value for money. |  | | |

Completely agree wessex. Cowling isn't everyone's cup of tea and he is a prickly customer and a PR dream he certainly isn't but i do trust him to do the best for the club. For some reason a number of our "fans" can't seem to stand a man who has invested over £30m into "their" football club. It makes no sense really which is apt as most talk complete nonsense. Cowling is never particularly transparent, and he definitely won't be with this, but somehow it's assumed he's the bad guy for the takeover not going ahead. I would like to know during the last 20 years how many other clubs haven't paid their players or taxes or suffered point deductions or worse. Something we've never had to worry about under Cowling.

Admittedly I've never been RC's biggest fan as I didn't agree with a lot of his decisions (esp his managerial appointments a few years ago) but then I'm not involved in running the club and don't have access to the balance sheets.
I will say however that in this selling the club saga that he does seem to be making the correct decisions here as we want an owner who's fully committed to the club and not someone who is just half hearted or has another motive that isn't in the clubs interests.
I'm sure the correct buyer will come in at some point but as long as RC runs the club properly in the meantime then we need to back him whether we agree with his decisions or not. | |

Colchester United owner Robbie Cowling has spoke about how close a consortium led by former Chelsea captain John Terry came to taking over the club earlier this year.
“I signed a non-disclosure agreement and there’s a lot of things I can’t say about the deal. What I can say is that it got extremely close," he told the Colchester Gazette.
“It got to the point where I thought I’d come to my last game of the season and I’d been to the last awards ceremony of the season. That’s how close it got.
“I met John just a couple of times and he was excellent the times I met him.
“Danny [Cowley] had quite a lot of conversations with John about what was going on, he met him more. He was extremely professional and it was none of his fault that it failed. It just didn’t go ahead.
